Locus show on a hint "This function requires GPS on" when the GPS is off and i open the function "show view"

my question is why this function need open GPS ?

I did a little test, open GPS and show view then walk to the north about 5km/h and rotate my device pointing to the east, Now the show view is also pointing to the east

So, looks like the show view is only based on compass?

question is not if this is technically possible or not, but more "has 'show view' function any sense without GPS?

i always turn off GPS when i was in th room for watch map and direction, maybe rotate map or watch the compass, these functions do not need GPS.

So, i was just wonder if the show view is only based on compass but why need open GPS ?

Hello,

show view should be really based only on an internal compass. Anyway because "show view" in room without a known current location do not have much sense, we force to turn on GPS to really show cone from "show view" feature on real location.
