Ski touring addons Switzerland
Gathering feedback
In Switzerland some new plugins would be helpful for skitouring:
- skitourenguru.ch
- official routes from the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC)
- Wild protection areas
Outdooratlas (http://www.corridor5.ch/company/static/en/outdooratlas.html) has them all already. It's just not as useful as Locus.
Dear Beno,
thank you for idea, I did quick check the skitourenguru.ch site and it seems that it's possible to download track as GPX files and then import it into Locus. However thank you for an idea for the new content.
Best regards
Petr

Hi
Thanks for the hint (I did not know)! That already would replace part of the ski touring routes from SAC.
However, Skitourenguru has regularily updated live data (snowheight, avalanche risk etc.) attached to their tracks. This data is not present in the downloadable gpx.

Hi,
the data you talked about (snowheight, avalanche risk) - is it possible to download them on Skitourenguru? I'd like to only check the format they use.
BTW: I remark the Skitourenguru site because we'd like to provide more content for our users next year and it seems that it could be interesting source.
Thank you
Petr

Hi
As far as I can see, the data (which is at least updated once a day) is only available to the normal user through a map by clicking on a ski route and then on "Zur Detail-Routenplanung..." (see screenshot below). But there needs to be kind of an interface for 3rd party apps (since the app outdooratlas is able to connect to the data too). The man behind the platform, Günter Schmudlach, is a developer himself (contact: http://www.skitourenguru.ch/index.php/contact) and certainly knows more detail.
The calculation of the avalanche risk ("Risiko-Indikator") is based on state-of-the-art methods in avalanche science. The platform also gained support of the Swiss Alpine Club. So far, the data is only available for Switzerland but there seems to be the will to expand it to the whole alpine region (http://www.skitourenguru.ch/index.php/weiterentwicklung, Point 8).

Welcome :-) Just wanted to add that I meant the android app outdooratlas (http://www.corridor5.ch/com...), not outdooractive.
Here is their announcement (EN) about their skitourenguru.ch plugin: http://www.corridor5.ch/company/static/en/plugin-skitourenguru.html
