Speed Resolution on Galaxy S4 only 0.9Km/h
Not a Problem
Since I have changed from Galaxy s2 to s4 using Android 4.2.2 I noticed that the speed increases and decreases are in steps of 0.9km/h instead of 0.1km/h.
The old tracks made with the S2 are also shown correctly with the S4. The new ones recorded with the S4 are wrong.
Could it be that Locus Pro is not yet fully compatible with android 4.2.2?
Hi,
there is no possibility to be "incompatible" here. It`s probably not needed to explain it from developer point of view, but trust me :)
There is a few things you may do
1. usually best is to try for example record track in two applications at once to compare results
2. you should also record a track and for same time enable recording NMEA messages in Locus settings. In Locus/data/nmea will be then available file with raw GPS data. If you then share with me this file together with recorded GPX track, I`ll check it
Anyway I warn you, that most probably this will not be a problem of Locus. There is almost no possibility to make a mistake and also, you`re the only one who report such issue.
Ah and finally .. GPS in mobile devices isn`t much precise. If you record track only during a walk, so when you speed is less then around 10km/h, accuracy of GPS is for sure worst then your movement, so these values should not be much precise

My ZTE Blade (A2.2) shows the same behaviour. I can`t get NMEA output from it, but I`m pretty sure this is not a problem with Locus but the GPS firmware of the phone.

I`m now almost 100% certain that this is a problem of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Firmware. The same problem of having a minimumum speed resolution of 0.9Km/h can be observed using other GPS apps.
Have tried to contact a technical person from Samsung. But there is only lip service from the friendly but technically incompetent German customer service straff.

Hi,
I've got the same problem on my Nexus 4 : the speed increases by 0.9 km/h. It is too much to be accurate when I cycle.
Is it a problem that can be solved (with the same smartphone) ? How can I reduce this speed resolution below 0.9km/h ?
Thanks
Denis
