Strange phenomenon, Kmz from google, problems with map icon color

Solved

Hi, i have a strange problem with color on map icon in a Kmz file generated by a google mymap. The problem was the same with Kml files that mymaps used to generate.

My file have icons with two colors, orange and green and it seems like there is some kind of conflict between them and the green ones take over when shown on screen and change the orange ones to green.

When i look at the file in the list, all of the icons are white. (maybe no color?)

The easiest way for me to describe the problem is this: http://youtu.be/a4HhS07BU2Y

I have no idea were the problem can be and i do have ways around it, but if someone has any idea of why this happen i would appreciate to hear about it.

The thing is that i built the map and i share it with other, i have introduced them to Locus Map. So when something is not working they come to me. :)

My android: 4.4.4 Cm11

Locus: 3.6.2

Hmm I was able to simulate this issue after first import of four KMZ

files from your map, but now when I need to simulate it again to fix it,

I have on 100% of icons orange color in all cases. Damn ...

Anyway 100% step by step, that leads to this behavior?

Strange is the word, i also had the same today and all icons got orange in locus but when i zoom in to a point that should have an green icon, it gets green when it is alone on the screen.

I did another test with another map from google with three layers and three different icons, no problems at all and the chosen icons worked perfect on the screen.

How i do with my files from the map.

1 Create a new map in locus

2 download all the four layers to my phone

3 Tap one file at the time and chose locus to take care of them

4 All four files is imported to the same map

5 Shown on map the result is the same every time but one thing various a little: sometimes green seem to be dominant and sometimes orange is dominant, when i zoom in and only look at one icon its color correct.

If i look at an area on the map were i know several icons should have one color, say orange, i can zoom in and the icons are orange, but when i zoom out and one green icon appear they all goes green.

White icons in list of imported points are in Locus since begin. Locus takes only a shape of icon (icon file itself), but do not apply any rotation or color in list. Small issue, but not so serious I think. Problem here are only changing colors on a map. Thanks guys, I'll have to look at it once more ...

Absolutely right Menion, its a small issue, when i change to custom icons in the map the problem is gone.

Still a small issue but my solution with custom icons was not working.

I tried the files gynta, the icon is white on the map for all places in all four files.

i know. any errors?

No errors, after a quick look it seem that every place is there and the number seems to be right.

I had to extract the file into four kmz before i could import them one by one into Locus.

Gynta, there is no problem at all to change the icons on the map, for me.

The thing is that the map i shown on a motorhome forum, before the map was published there i have recomend people to use LocusMap with another gpx-file that are custom built to cooperate good with locus.

The file has a nice Png-icon on the map, it contains descriptions for all individual places and about 3000 of 3400 places has an image for the place in the description.

This "other" file almost every camper can download and import to locus even if they dont know so much about smartphones/tablets.

Now, with the google map that can generate an kmz i thought they could do it themselves, let the map generate a kmz and they could import it by themselves, now i notice that they come to me and say this wont work and that wont work.

My way around the icon phenomenon so far is to convert the map to gpx and place a dropboxlink to the files in the information-popup in the map, this works but i have to explain the procedure often and i think that nobody finds the information in the map easily.

For me this is still a small issue and more a phenomenon, but if there is an easy thing to solve, i think it would be nice.

If it is something that take a lot of effort to solve, i can live with it the way it is and continue to produce gpx to solve the problem.

Hi again, i dont know if this helps or not but why not share it anyway.

This i think has little to do with the issue i had when i started this thread.

After i showed the map and clip here i tried do do some changes, now there is custom icons on the map.

When i download the four kmz directly from the map i notice when i extract them i my computer that the name of the icon is: icon-1.png

All the files comes with an icon and they are all named: icon-1.png

So if that screwes things up it may not be so strange.

Anyway, as manager of the map i have the option download the complete map, i look into the file and now the icon is named icon-1.png, icon-2.png and icon-3.png

As i mentioned, i think this has little to do with my first problem that started this thread, my attitude when I do not really have control and needs help, is to try to tell everything I know about the problem to give them that help me better opportunities.
