swisstopo map fails to download

I have bought map of Interlaken by Swisstopo. It starts downloading, but after 5 seconds finishes with "Process unsuccessfull. Problem on remote server, try again later. Error: 2, tile: 533|361|18". I still can initiate download, but i am afraid that it will unavailable soon, because map is one time download.

Good day Yury,


I've just downloaded Interlaken map and all went without problems, so it should not be any issue on swisstopo server, but rather in Locus Map itself.


Very interesting is orange popup label with "Problem with file: ... " message. It looks like Locus Map has really some issues with map file stored in your private directory. May you please check if you have enough free space i your device? If problem remain even on second attempt, may you please try to create a log with this method? Thank You very much and sorry for complications.


And for your information: it is correct that map is for one time download only (be careful with this private directory because it is automatically removed when you un-install Locus Map, so rather backup downloaded map carefully), anyway map won't be marked as "downloaded" on our server, till there are any problems and map is not downloaded on 100%. So you may try it again without worry.

I have about 4Gb available, I tried to download it again - same error. It shows also one more orange popup before one from screenshot, with text seen on error window.

I have sent bug report to email.

Hope it will be fixed =)

Yury, thanks for a log. Unfortunately I do not see any useful information inside. I thought you see only one orange box, but if two, then second is important for me as well.


Anyway it looks like some problem with partially downloaded map file. So firstly, may you please send me your partial map file stored in "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/maps/swisstopo - hiking trails" directory? I'll try to find out if there is some problem directly in this file. After then, simply delete this file from your device and start downloading again, hope it will work fine.

You can see text of second (though it appears before the one you see on screenshot) error in popup under red text "Process unsuccessful"

It is a bit tricky to make screenshot at right time.

Good day Yury,

thank you for a directory and additional information. This seems to be quite complicated problem. Map file is empty but correct, issue is not on swisstopo server because it works fine for me and in log is no useful error message for me.


May I ask you for another small test? Not sure if you have some time on this and mainly patience, just let me know.


If so, I've prepared testing version (Beta version of Locus Map Free). Please try same procedure with this version. After it failed, just close application and in Locus/logs directory should be a log files with some additional information about downloading. Send me please this file(s). Thank you!

thanks for a log. It is possible tha:

a) it is common system log took by android settings > developers tools > take bug report and not as I wrote "After it failed, just close application and in Locus/logs directory should be a log files with some additional information about downloading. Send me please this file(s)."?

b) in log is only information about Locus Map Pro and not about Beta version I've send you? Thanks for checking

b) As far as i can see from log it is beta version (Locus/3.21.1.12)

Ah I'm sorry, I was looking on older ticket you send here on locus.map@asamm.com and not on my working email. Mess in emails :).


Log received ... error is clear. On every request on swisstopo server, your device receive "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden". I'm testing it in office with my colleague and every possible parameter is correct .. and we have absolutely no idea where may be a problem.


Isn't possible that access to swisstopo server is somehow blocked on your device / wi-fi / for your IP address? Is it possible for you, to try it with different connection to internet? Maybe some proxy server between, that may cause a troubles?


There is absolutely no problem to refund your order, so no worry about LoCoins, anyway I have for now no clear logical explanation, why this may happen.

I have tried to download that map on 2 devices using 2 different WiFi and one mobile Internet on my phone. One WiFi I can say 100% sure has no restrictions or proxies.


Error is same on both devices, only on tablet tile with different number is failing.


Is it possible, that my Auth token isn't valid for map server?

Thanks for testing, this is really weird :). Security of downloading is not based on some token, but there is different mechanism.


Please try to check in your devices (in simple web browser) following urls:


It is really weird, because if you purchase map in our store, it only download small file with configuration what should Locus Map do, and rest of downloading (whole map) is downloading directly from swisstopo server. Download of configuration file works fine on your device, but it looks like you are somehow blocked on swisstopo server.

Aren't you using any application on your devices, that may block access for Locus to these swiss servers?

In order to prevent cybercriminality, an IP blocking according to geolocation is in place. Your IP is currently blocked. We’ll analyze if we can be less restrictive, but currently, I can’t promise anything. Sorry not to have better news,
