Takes ages to calculate route

Alexis Edilloran shared this problem 7 years ago

It was one of the most reliable apps I've ever used but lately, the calculation takes so long that I get to the destination and it is still calculating the route. It is not my phone's GSP since it can still trace me as the dot moving on the map. It can also find and mark the dedtination. It just does not calculate the route. I have been late to important meetings even though I left early because it is no longer reliable =/ Please fix this. I would really appreciate it. As requested, I have attached some screen shots.

Hello Alexis,

- which navigation data source you use?

- share us an example start and endpoint

- where are your screenshots?

Alexis, note that LocusMaps, in contrary to e.g. OSMAnd or MapsFactor Navigator, does not calculate routes on its own, as it calls 3rd party routing services. There are online internet ones, like MapQuest, YOURS or OSRM, or offline ones like BRouter or GraphHopper.

If you have configured LocusMap to use either of them, and it stopped working, it is not primarily LocusMap fault and Locus programmers cannot fix it. The ball is on the court side of the service provider ( to fix the service ) and eventually of the user ( to switch the routing provider ).

Great comments guys, but all that really does is excuse LocusMaps, not fix its problems. I un-installed and re-installed a few times, I've tried changing settings and then going back to default settings several times. Non of which fixed the problem. I'm after step by step trouble shooting based on the problem I've described not technical jargon that says "its not LocusMaps' problem" in a nutshell. As for screen shots, they were attached, but here they are again.

Ah sorry, I'm confused now .... You created another topic with exactly same issue? I just nothing that owner of this topic is also You.

So I'll delete your second topic as is duplicate this one, and let's solve your problem. On your screenshot is clearly visible that Locus has location only from network source (wi-fi, BTS stations, ...) not from hardware GPS unit. Please check your settings if GPS is enabled in your device, like here: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/30/how-to-enable-gps-and-other-location-services-beginners-guide/

Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean with the GPS not being enabled as there is a setting in your app that turns this automatically on or off, but I've taken some screen shots that show it is on at the time the problem occurs.

GPS applications setttings is overruled by the global Android settings, if the applications are allowed to use GPS or not. But it seems allowed in your case.

But your Android seems to have troubles to get GPS fix, as Locus asks for the GPs location the Android location service. Some devices are know to have GPS troubles.

Various trials may, or may not work, like switching GPS usage ON/OFF in Locus, eventually combined with airplane mode ON/OFF, evantually combined with Locsu restart.

THE ONLY thing that ALWAYS works for my SONY Xperia M dual, that have occational GPS problems, is Android reboot.

Thanks Libor. On screenshots (mainly with GPS screen) is clearly visible that all is correct. GPS location as source is enabled in device, GPS is also enabled in Locus, so issue is not on your side Alexis. I'm also 100% sure, that same issue like you have with Locus, will be also with other applications. For example did you tried Google Maps application? Is this app displaying your location correctly?
