Problem with vector maps on SD card

dave baird shared this problem 8 years ago
Closed

I have tried creating a custom vectormaps folder on the SD card with the Locus folder still on internal memory and moving the entire Locus folder with maps to the SD card as shown here as solution "B" http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:use_sdcard_on_kitkat#why_locus_developers_didn_t_fix_it

I set the default directory in both cases.

Neither of these work.

Locus works fine and I can see the themes file in the vector map directory but the maps do not show even when I use the add folder button.

All works Ok if everything is on internal memory.

What to do?

Don't want to root the device.

Thanks,

Dave Baird

Hi Dave,

let's make clear what you did - as you describe it, you created a new mapsVector directory in /Android/data/menion.android.locus(pro) directory and moved all your maps (including rasters) to it. You defined new paths to your maps, both vector maps and raster maps right?

Yes.

I also tried creating a separate vector maps directory on the SD card but while it shows in my files I cannot see it in the Locus file browser.

I am only having a problem with Vector Maps in all cases.

Leave root Locus directory in internal memory and move just the vector maps. Moving vector maps to SD card should not make problems. After moving them to a new location and re-defining path to it in settings/miscellaneous/default directories/set mapsVector directory the maps should appear in Locus map manager.

I have the root Locus  on internal memory and have tried putting the Vector maps in a new folder on the sd card and in the sd card" menion.android.locus.pro" folder.

I set default vector directory tosd card menion.android.locus.pro but neither the maps or the map folders show.

Also, the folder I created on the SD card " storage/extSdCard/mapsVector backup" does not show in the Locus default directory browser.

would you please post a screenshot of the unfolded menion.android.locus.pro directory in your file browser?

Here it is.

Dave, I'm not able to simulate your problem. I make the same setting and all works as it should. Maybe last thing - I would try complete uninstalling of your Locus and deleting all its directories (backup your data first). Then I would reinstall it, define new paths, move data to new directories etc.

I did a full reinstall and deleted the directories, but the Locus maps browser still does not see the files.  I put a folder called vector Maps in the directory SDCard/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro and I set that as the default vector maps directory.  The browser sees the directory but does not show the vector maps folder.

try moving your vector maps directly to SDCard/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro directory

Did not work.

They still do not show in the locus file browser when I try to add SDCard/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro as an "external location".

Also I cannot add this location because Locus reports a "problem with"

FYI the offline maps page still shows "maps in  /storage/emulated/0/locus/maps/  will be automatically added to the list"  eventhough I have redirected the default for vector maps.

You don't have to add the new folder as "External". Just move the maps to the new directory and redefine the path to your vector maps in Locus Main Menu > Settings > Miscellaneous > Default directories > Set 'mapsVector/' directory. Then restart Locus and the Map manager will read the new structure itself.

Yes I already did that but the maps do not show in the browser.

I was just trying to add the directory to see if that would work.

Good day Dave,

l´ll try to help you as Michal asked me for a help.

Please follow my steps:

1. create new directory mapsVector in path storage/extSdCard/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/

2. copy your directories "_world" and "america" into this directory. So for example full path to map of New York will be /storage/extSdCard/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/mapsVector/america/new_york.osm.map

3.in Locus in settings > miscellaneous > Default directories > "Set mapsVector directory" define path to maps vector directory. So when you set it, you will see a blue text with path that will ends with "mapsVector", nothing more.

Btw. I do not see what device, rom you have. And mainly if you really use Locus Map Pro or a Free version (latest version).

Above method should work in all cases. If not then I´m sorry, but there is probably nothing I may help with. Btw. if you have Android 5.0+, then for vector map you do not have to use this "private" folder. You may also create Locus/mapsVector directory directly in SD card root directory and define path to this "mapsVector" directory in same way.

Hope it will work to you!

I am using the "Pro " version.

I am using Android 4.4.2, Kernal 3.0.31-1984358

I did exactly as you instructed above, but when I try to set the default directory Locus does not show the "vectorMaps" directory inside of "files".

The files are there, something is wrong with Locus.

Understand what you wrote dave, but do not understand how this is possible.

Anyway I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no idea how may I help here. Please write a private ticket with your email and also order number for your Locus Map Pro (if you have purchased Locus Map Pro) and we will refund you order.

Hi Dave,

how's it going? Have you found solution to your issue? As we haven't got a word from you for 2 weeks, I'm closing this ticket. If you have any question, feel free to ask again.
