Track preview too much simplified

Ingo Rau shared this problem 9 years ago
Solved

I don't know if the problem got introduced with http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/track-previews-not-correct-when-map-zoomed, but in 3.12.1 the track previews are sometimes far too much simplified. See attached screenshots.

Not a severe problem, but in cases like this the preview is rather useless (starting point - farthest point - end point).

Hmm are you sure, it is the same, 600 m long, track? If so, share it please with me as I do not see such effect on own tracks. Thanks

Yes, definitely. I recreated some more previews (by changing the color of the track) and it seems to be related to length of the track: Everything >2-3km looks normal, shorter ones usually only have <10 points.

I attached the track for the screenshots.

Hmm, I'm checking your track and it's preview looks correctly (btw. you may refresh preview simply by long click on small map).

Only thing that affects this preview is simplification of tracks defined in config: map_items_track_simplification_till_zoom

Were you changing this parameters? Anyway more logical should be to completely ignore this parameter for track previews. I'll try to improve it.

I have this in my config.cfg:

  1. # same as points_simplification. (default: 22)
  2. map_items_track_simplification_till_zoom=22

So no change. I do have map_items_points_simplification_till_zoom=5 (instead of default 10)

Well, try what you have in mind and I'll check again next version. Unless I can think of something else I might have special (you know, I do like to play around with my settings ;).

Thx for the tip with the preview refresh - much easier...

Ah "funny". I'm checking code and I already did a function that should disable this simplifications for track preview. Unfortunately it do not work correctly. So fixed now. In next version after refresh, your short tracks should looks correctly. Thanks!

Yes, and I just found out that your "trick" (long press on preview) does it correctly for me, too! That's why you couldn't see anything wrong...

I assume that's exactly what you just found.
