Update of an already downloaded map

Hi,

as an OSM contributor I'd find useful to be able to update a map from the same source and with the same area to benefit from possible updates on the openstreetmap side. I have several maps which I use repeatedly but they may get slightly outdated after a while.

cheers

Good day Jiri,

Update of older tiles may be already possible using "supplementary download mode" together with definition of maximal.age of existing tiles. Are you aware of this option? If no, I may forward you on our manual: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_download#advanced_options_and_confirmation

Hi Menion,

thanks for your prompt reply. I was not aware of this option. I tried to play with it a bit and if I understand correctly I can update an existing map but I have to go through the selection process again, is it correct?

What I had in mind would be an extra option in the list of offline maps - next to "details, .. re-initialize map, delete" an update to update the selected map. In fact I thought re-initialize would do it but it is for something else.

cheers

Good day Jiří,

this is absolutely correct. Selection of area for download is needed and Locus only download and overwrite older tiles.

I perfectly understand your request. What I have offered was "only" a partial solution that should be enough in case, you wants a fresh map for certain area.

I should keep this idea open so other may vote if interested in same task.

Hi Menion,

thanks - no problem to wait to see if others find this useful.

I've been a happy user of Locus Map for a couple of years and only now discovering new features introduced since then - I'm impressed more and more - keep up the good work!

cheers

Jiri
