Dear Morgan,

I'm not sure maybe some user add them as custom map provider ( http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:online_maps )

However on our to-do list is plan to prepare offline package USFS maps. Unfortunately I can give you any time plan - maybe end of this year.

Thanks, Petr

Hi Morgan,

Locus have recently added some of my USGS maps to the store ("USGS maps by John Thorn"). They contain the USGS landcover data and USFS Roads, tracks and trails. Please take a look at some of the sample screens and tell me what you expect from USFS in addition.

Hi John...I got your Vermont map to compare to USGS online. It looks great...much better. Like the power lines too!I'm not sure it retains all the detail though. I just picked an area of hiking trails "Pine Hill Park" to the northwest of Rutland below Rocky pond. I am using the US-Style theme and your trails look great in red dots. If I jump to the same area in USGSTopo online there is a trail "Sore Elbow" which is not on your map? There are many not on there? What am I doing wrong.

Did you map install the "US-Style"? I do not remember that but I have not been on Locus for a few months.

the new Lomaps vermont has sore elbow and ESRI online has it. Can you pull your data form ESRI...i don't think they miss anything.

Hi Morgan,

I am picking up trails from Open Street Map like the Lomaps do - so I need to investigate why these are not appearing.

I will get back to you in a day or two.

Yes, the style file come with the map but doesn't overwrite anything. Other style file may not work correctly with these maps, though.

UPDATE...while lying in bed last night I really went through and compared your maps against lomaps and all the offline maps.. ESRI was the best in terms of trail accuracy and showed trails no other maps show but I noticed your maps showed many things that lomaps did not and vica a versa...so I'm glad I have yours and will get more...I guess I just have to live with using more than one while scouting out trails.

On a side note, have you used caltopo.com. The maps selection is amazing with even historical maps. Imho there is nothing better partially because you can "snap to" USFS roads when route planning. It even allows you to pick the snap to options. no other product can do that. I asked Locus to include USFS maps as they are a bit different from USGS maps. Keep up the great work...thanks,

I started this project over a year ago......

Most of the data was downloaded in 2017 and I did not expect major changes. However, someone has been tracing more trails in that park - see attached. In fact the Open Street Map roads data (which includes trails) for Vermont has grown by about 10% in a year.

I will need to talk to Petr about updates.
