Thank you J.K,

I just wrote to TrustGo support site, because I'm 100% sure that Locus published over Google Play is perfectly clean.

Hello Menion,

thanks for attending to it. Do you habe an answer from the TrustGo Support? The message still appears when installing Locus 3.1.3.

Hello unfortunately no response.

We received one more email complain about same problem but with different Android protection app. We wrote them also and also no response.

I'll send them one more email.

Still no response?

Hi,

sorry, still no response.

Because they ignore our emails and also because this is not an issue in Locus, but in TrustGo app, I'm closing it as "not a problem", sorry.

Hi there,

I just updated to current version 3.3.0 and TrustGo still warns of "Adware!Dowgin.X@Android". It recommends to uninstall the locus app.

I would never do this because I'm using the pro version for a long time now and will not miss it! But you should try to fix this error or missinterpretation because it surely scares new users.

As the thread starter refers to locus free, I will start a new thread for the paid pro version with this...

Hello Markus,

on this problem is generally few issues.

1. as main an only developer of Locus itself, I`m sure, there is no dangerous code in this app. So there is nothing to fix.

2. TrustGo do not react on my email about this incorrect warning.

So, I have no idea what to do with this stupid issue for now ...

EDIT: I've now also merged your new topic. Locus Free and Locus Pro are almost same and 99% of issues in one version are also in second version. Same here, so no need for a separate topic.

Hello Menion,

I was nearly 100% sure that there is no dangerous code in locus but the TrustGo engine somehow must think there is. Either by blacklisting locus or by some heuristic analysis of the apk.

Regards,

Markus

Hello guys,

unfortunately seems that no matter how many emails we wrote, we will not get any response.

I was investigating a little bit, and reported issue is most probably this one: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/threat-center/threat-analyses/adware-and-puas/Android%20Dowgin/detailed-analysis.aspx

Generally it should be some unwanted advertisement app, that display ads as popups etc. Locus use only single library from Google - AdMob. So it really has to be some false-positive warning.

Anyway because already a few people complain about fact, that even a Locus Pro contains this library (even that it is not used), I've invested some time and removed this lib just for Locus Pro. So hope, since next version, Locus Pro won't contains AdMob library and I hope that also this issue disappear.

It still remains in Locus Free, but I can promise, that in Locus is absolutely no dangerous code.

So at least something for now ...

Hallo Menion,

thanks for this information.

I'm waiting for the new Pro-version now.

TrustGo did not report any problem with the Free version I installed a week ago, but I have just upgraded to the Pro version on 27/07/2015 and TrustGo Security Scan Report says that Locus Pro is infected:

Locus Pro v3.10.3 Low Risk

Threat Name: Adware!Dowgin.X@Android

This app will push unwanted ad to

your notification bar and auto download apps without your consent, resulting in

high data bill.

Recommendation:

Uninstall it

This is rather worrying! I have the latest version of trustGo ver 1.4.0 with virus database 20150327702.

"ad to notification bar"? Funny ... sorry Jon, Locus is 100% secure ... we believe that high rating and "top developer" badge is good enough proof.
