Very poor datum support

How can I use a map with European Datum 1950?

Is very usual datum in Europe and many apps support it but not this one....

I guess many people in Europe would buy the application if it improved support for a variety of datums. It's a real issue.

Hello Ricardo

I assumed that you have this map.

I wrote a link to use it.

If you do not have it you have to search (google)

Another option is to use the WMS layer (1950)

Also, look for WMS (google)

Thank you very much. This exceeds my current knowledge about coordinate systems.

I just know that i have found another application which make it easier for us with old raster european maps. But this application has other advantages. Continue to improve it, please. Thank you!

Dear Ricardo,

there are two aspects: the coordinate system of source map and the format of raster map. The most used (in Locus) raster formats *.mbtiles and *.sqlitedb use the srs EPSG:3857. But for example *.TAR format supports any coordinate system and Locus should import it. I expect that your source map is in geotiff format and it's needed to convert it. I would suggest to use mbtiles or sqlitedb format:

- there is plugin for QGIS that it's able to convert raster format to mbtiles http://discuss.locusgis.com/t/how-to-import-geotiff/26 (tutorial is for Locus GIS app but will work also for Locus Map)

- you can use mapc2mapc SW to convert your map into sqlitedb format

http://www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping/help/locus.html

http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:map_tools:conversion

BTW: if you want to use also coordinates with any coordinate system, please see: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:coord

Best regards

Thank you very much, Petr!. Great help!. I have to study all this and update my maps.

Thanks!

EDIT:

I have some ED50 .rmap files from Europe. So..., is posible to convert .rmap files to a format Locus is able to open with right coordinates? Or perhaps is easier to search for another updated maps... in mbtiles format

Locus has limited support of *.rmap format - but it's really limited. I think that mapc2mapc is probably able to convert rmap format into sqlitedb. Unfortunately the webpage of Mapc2mapc SW is down, but please check (later) the supported formats on http://www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping/help/formats.html
