Wear OS Smart Watches for Outdoor purposes ?
Answered
I want to use a smartwatch outdoor and it would be nice to see the Locus map on it.
As I see this is only possible with wear OS from Google.
I only find not so cheap wer OS Smartwatches and I do not want to put a €300 Watch into mud and sand ;-)
Is there a Smartwatch which can be connected to Locus for about €100 ?
Will there be support for e.g. Samsung Gear Fit Pro 2 ?
Thx for your answers in advance.
Dear Michael.
There is no list of officially tested or supported watch for Locus Map Watch.
Please, look at the manufacturer's specification and search for Android Wear/Wear OS in the product description. If the watch is running any version of Android Wear/Wear OS then the add-on should work without any problems.
Please see for more info https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:add-ons:wearforlocus
Best regards.

Hi Michael
We currently use (and have been using for over a year now) the Samsung Galaxy Sport smartwatches with Locus for mountain bike guiding. All 5 of our guides and drivers use them - They work fantastic. The watch model hasn't been updated in a couple years and they can be found used for around $75 USD
They are waterproof, and the battery lasts about 2 days with constant navigation and screen on. I mount them on my handlebar for track navigation on the bike and in the motorcycle / car.
We use the live tracking feature to coordinate the guides with the drivers for real time position and coordinating pickup location. I can't say enough good things about the watch or the app.
