I'm an avid cyclist and love Locus for all things navigation, exercise, etc. However, there's one thing that I wish the app did and that is, poll a weather API during track recording, when you have service of course. The reason why I think this would be a helpful configuration option is simply that if you're working out and want to see how you've been improving in all environments. For instance, after each ride, I record the temperature, the wind speed and direction, humidity/dew point, and also what apparel I was wearing (short sleeve shirt vs. long sleeve). All this can factor into how a person has been improving and help forecast for the next time you ride.
Weather information in tracks
Gathering feedback
I like the available weather information in locus pro and had it earlier in my training app, before it was an feature to pay extra for. I think it would be really nice to have the weather information at least in the "track summary" maybe once per hour or one every 100km or just start stop. But just weather at start of track would be nice, most of tracks are reasonably short. Wind information compared to speed is an interesting parameter.
I would find it useful to have the day's weather forecast displayed in the track's Statistics. It only needs to be a brief summary so when I look back at a hike I did four months ago, I'll know the temperature and if it was sunny/rainy/foggy, etc.
I currently import Locus Map tracks into runalyze.com for deeper analysis. Runalyze uses the track's creation date to find the weather for the area where I hiked.
Weather data reported by Runalyze using a Locus Map track:
Locus Map doesn't need to automatically record the weather information with the track. I hike in places that have no cellphone reception so Locus Map wouldn't be able to record the current weather. It can be a function (button) that the user manually activates at a later time (upen returning to an area with cellphone reception or Wi-Fi). The API for WorldWideWeatherOnline (the service used by Locus Map) includes the ability to retrieve historical weather for a given location.

Hm, as a former air force meteorologist I understand your passion. But IMHO, this suits more to specialized sport tracker-like applications. I am not sure if this fits enough to the profiling of LocusMap.

Over a year ago, Johan Frisk made the suggestion to save the day's weather with the recorded track.

It currently has 8 votes. Menion liked the idea as well. His intent was to first switch to a new source of weather information that also provides historical weather data (at a reasonable cost). I believe that first step was done earlier this year when version 3.24 was released. http://www.locusmap.eu/news-version-3-24-0/

I too have recently suggested this feature. I think it would be very helpful feature for taking tracks to the next level. http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/track-recording-record-weather

Thanks guys for a feedback. I've just merged Brandon idea to this ( same one ).
Indeed, weather service was successfully changed and now, nothing blocks to implement this idea ( except necessary time on work ).
