Why does offline map not support overlays?

I have an offline map in OruxMaps format. When I choose "Overlay map", it tells me that overlaying is not possible. With offline maps downloaded by Locus (like Google maps) it is possible, so it can't be a technical restriction for offline maps - what could be the reason? Is it perhaps just a flag in the SQL-DB that has to be changed?

Hello,

reason for this is that maps made for OruxMaps apps may have many different map projections. Because Locus Map do not do reprojection of map on the fly, I've rather disabled support for overlay for OruxMap based maps at all. Thanks for understanding.

Quick additional question:

Do you think there would be a way to convert an Orux map to KML/KMZ?

I do not know, never did it.

Jose (developer of OruxMaps), had some desktop tool for work with maps, maybe this may help?
