Why we cannot use Google Map to create points?

JLK shared this question 10 years ago
Answered

I have Locus Pro

On maps provided, the street where I live is not even

shown. With Google Map I can even see my house.

This to say that I cannot get the accuracy I need

without Google Maps.

Further more to create a point, it is not possible

to paste coordinates collected with other GPS apps. We can only copy coordinates from Locus.

Any reason why Google Map is excluded & will it be used in the future?

Hi Jean,

from GoogleMaps side you can share a point with the share function. In Locus you then get a search window with the given address for searching with Mapquest p.e. and further you can save a point within Locus.

Hi KaHeMu

Thanks a lot. It works well and I was telling myself

that a great software like Locus cannot not have

missed such a feature.

I meant <cannot have missed such a feature >

However I wish Google Map were an option as an online map from within Locus.

Hello Jean Lai Kan.

Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, there is not possible to use Google maps in Locus app due to Terms of use of Google provider.

Kind regards

Hana

Hi Hana,

Thank you for the update. I had guessed it was a licensing issue.

Fortunately there is a workaround with 'Share' from other apps.

Best

Jean
