Map zoom that keeps X/100% scale

Hello,

when I use raster map (Hybrid Google Maps) the zooming function is

making some kind of blurry effect if I zoom with my fingers (dual touch

zoom).

Can you add a function that even if I zoom with dual touch,

the final zoom will be only the downloaded quality of the zoom? like 13 /

14 / 15 (cities / streets / houses) and not in between?

[CZ]

Šlo by s tím něco udělat?

Třeba že by přibyla speciální funkce typu "stick to the zoom numbers when zooming" nebo tak nějak podobně?

Hello,

I understand. This is how Locus worked few years ago till this "scaled" mode was created.

I've improved your description so it should be more clear to others, what you propose. If there will be more votes, I should think about creating some optional parameter that enable this feature.

I see! I thought Locus had this function before :-) I'm glad I'm not out of my mind :-)

Thanks for the topic-update. In the future I'll try to use english or english/czech :-)

I think this feature request is exactly what I'm looking for. Here's what I want in my own words (example): I'm in zoom level 15 (100%) and enlarge the map by spreading the fingers. I came into zoom level 16 (135%) but I want to snap into zoom level 16 (100%).

Why not alter the function that way, so you zoom in the stepless 'scaled' mode by dragging up or down and zoom in full steps by dragging left or right?

Hope the idea is clear.

I intensely dislike "hidden" functions like this where you really can't find out what is going on and what to do to make it happen. My personal view.

Well, it's not exactly 'hidden' since it is described on one of the first pages of the user guide.

Controlling the map

Basically the map is controlled easily by simple tap gestures:

  • touch and drag – map shift
  • double tap and drag – map zoom
  • pinch – map zoom

If you don't like it, don't use it, but once you try it, you'd probably find it useful as well.

Best regards

  • double tap and drag – map zoom

thx, this is great and i was searchng for this. I agree with john as it is a little bit hidden.

I think this feature is already possible by parameter "map_automatic_zoom_lock". Try to set it to "0", it should work.

Anyway expect there may be some smaller problems in case, you use raster maps (SQLite based) and this map do have holes between zoom levels, like 13, 15, 17 (and not full range 13, 14, 15, 16, 17). I'll look at it if there will be interest. Let me know.

There is a huge interest :-) Whenewer I zoom, the map is blurry. Would be fine to have it on 100% all the time :-)

You can also zoom in with double tap and zoom out with two-finger tap, at least if you adjust "Map/Control&Panels/Map control style" to "Google" in settings. This method will always snap to 1:1 scale, like you requested.

BTW, I totally think this should be the DEFAULT and Locus style of map control removed. It's simply what people expect when they come from google maps. And lets be honest... every new user today comes from google maps... and they are annoyed when there's no zoom on double tap.

Locus could show panels instead when double tapping "in the panel area".
