Bottom controls unusable in full screen mode

Thomas Göller shared this problem 2 years ago
Solved

Running LM3/4 in full screen mode the bottom panel seems to be sometimes overlapped by system UI gesture overlay and I can't tap any of the function keys.

With luck I can trigger the burger menu (LM4) while swipping up in this area. Moving the map is not an issue but I can use any of the functions within the bottom panel.

Weird thing is that it works when enable full screen mode and after a while I see a horizontal white bar at the bottom and bottom panel is blocked again.

Managing to disable full screen mode again in the settings all is fine again.

Any ideas about how to fix this?

Running

Android 11

Google Pixel 3

Gesture navigation enabled

Launcher: Nova launcher

PS: I have this issue occationally with LM3 but quite regular with LM4

The "full screen" function does not remain unchecked

Hello Thomas, stephanely,

in the recent version of the app, behavior (mainly in the Locus Map 4) how the app deals with basic mode and also part with the full-screen mode changed a lot.

If you suffer from any new problem, please post here a screenshot of this issue, thanks!

Same issue….either go into full screen mode..then the buttons in the panels disappear (sometimes even the quick menu is a completely white box)..or switch off full screen mode and then the panel and e.g. the menu button is behind the android system panel.

This makes the app pretty hard to use during motor bike riding. Is there a way to revert to a previous app version?

I believe the fix for this or some similar issue in last Locus update (4.3.3) broke the immersive fullscreen on my Galaxy S10e. Before the update, Locus would use the entire screen. Yeah, there is a tiny little camera in the corner that would obscure a bit of the map, or perhaps a bit of nav panel or dashboard, but that wasn't really an issue. Now fullscreen avoids the top centimeter of my display completely. :-/

(yeah I realize other people may prefer to not have anything obscured at all, but the camera here is really really tiny... :-))

I have also problems with fullscreen menu hiding buttons.

This might be related to popup menus since menu hides buttons when it appears.

Popup menus are often blank too.

Issue is sometimes solved by clicking home button and then going back to app.

Another issue is that I use map shifting (offset) and it is sometimes shifting wrong direction oe ven jumping back and forth.

Hi guys,

sorry for the troubles with full-screen mode. My attempts to adapt to the new system seem to be working incorrectly. I today made some bigger changes based on official Android docs, so if anyone has time, please test the latest Beta version, thanks.

I confirm that MapGooglePlay_4.3.3.2_1031_beta.apk fixes the issue for me. Thanks!

Sorry for the late comment, but very busy with OpenStreetMap updates :)

So I have been using Locus Pro (legacy one, current version, latest 3.55.1) for many years, daily, and am now frustrated by the Android buttons appearing and overlapping the bottom Locus controls. Used to work perfect, but now usability of the app is low. Even dangerous when using LM for navigation: fighting with the buttons. I now had to disable full screen mode in Locus and I also disabled the (new?) option to show Locus without unlocking the phone. So maybe this button issue is still present in the legacy Locus, while fixed in the new Locus.

Please look at the screenshot: both bottom row and top row appear and overlap the fullscreen Locus buttons.

Hi, what phone do you have? Is it Xiaomi? We're registering this issue only on Xiaomis so far...

This is a OnePlus 5T with LineagoOS 18.1 (=plain Android 11) that I did not change for past year. Only change is Locus app having some recent updates. I can make a small video of the effect I encounter, if you want. I can revert to older Locus and compare that particular app behaviour. Imho this behaviour sneaked in when working on the 'do not unlock Android' as new feature in Locus, some app updates ago.

Intereting. Thanks R50, then I'll have to look at it closer as this seems to be really serious problem.

Btw. both apps are identical in terms of "Full-screen", so same issue have to be in LM4 as well.

Hi, I've setup a new phone today (Xiaomi Poco F3, Android 11) - same issue there.

On a Samsung Tab 5Se with A11 and my old mobile (Samsung J6 - Android 10) it was working fine.

As a workaround I tried the system fullscreen mode with gestures instead of the system navigation bar, but that's not working either with 3rd party launcher...
