Tasker integration for controlling Locus and exchanging Waypoint data

Please add integration for the Tasker app (for eg. exchanging Way point or POI Data).

That way one would be able to update way points on external events and automatically share data and similar.

You could for example get a SMS with coordinates and Tasker could automatically update the Target you are moving to. Also this would allow one to automatically send coordinates on request or after some time to someone.

Or you could for example automatically post your actual coordinates of your vacation travel route on Facebook when a specific event takes place. Maybe if you have traveled a specific distance.

You could not only exchange Data but also control Locus functions from other Apps or another Device.

That is especially useful when 2 or more people need to know where the other are or need to share the data automatically.

or or...

The uses are limitless! This would greatly enhance the Locus usability and everyone could fulfill his personal needs without any need for someone to write a special Locus addon App.

Great idea. I love tasker.

It would be great to expose such features not only to tasker but via intents to other applications (fully publically documented)

I just learned the following:

1) Tasker is able to send and receive intents

2)Locus already supports SOME intents lie setting a waypoint.

This in theory would nearly allow to do what is needed. But if I'm right Locus has no intent to send your current location to Tasker. So you can't pull your own location and send it to someone afterwards.

But will look into it extremely week. If possible I will write a Buddy tracking script then.

-- Menoin, would it be easily possible to allow or add more / other intents?

Hi,

I can't imagine how can locus send location to tasker without any "tasker API integration". Intents are used to send information to some application or it's possible to create Broadcast Intents that send data into system so other apps may use it.

This is probably what you want, but it means, that Locus should every send send Broadcast intent with users location into system. And this just because of Tasks, right?

I just thought again about the idea of posting position updates - if it's just the GPS position or an area that would already be possible with Tasker without Locus so posting an position update via an broadcast would be redundant.

Tasker integration is a wonderfull Idea. With this intergration Locus would be soooo awesome. I use Locus for different activities. Now i use it for running. With the possibility to give Variables to tasker i could programming Zones for Heart beat or i can play a motivation song if i am to slow. or or or

sorry for my english

I know.

Tasker is an App for automation of the Android system, not the Task Manager.

For example I could script Tasker to pull a position every 3 Minutes. Tasker then would send an intent to Locus like "send Position". Locus then would send an Intent to Tasker that contains the position. That was my idea.

Sure, WAY better would be a real Locus Plugin for Tasker. Tasker allows others to write plugins.

(btw. I also did find there's a was to get your actual position in Tasker)
