Locus emulator on PC

I am running Locus Map 4 on Windows 11 using the BlueStacks emulator. It runs well. How do I either synchronize tracks I have created, or export them to my PC? When I select export on the PC it exports them to /sdcard/Locus/export/ I can not find this folder on my PC.

Thank you

Jerry - somewhat off topic sorry - but did you evaluate NOX, Genymotion, Memu and/or Windows 11 own Android emulator before deciding to use BlueStacks? I gave up trying to get Windows 11 own Android emulator working after wasting lots of time. I now have NOX working although LM4 crashes quite a lot (no data lost for some reason).

NOX - https://www.locusmap.app/how-to-use-locus-map-on-a-pc/

no one on Locus team has W11 yet in 2023?

I did use NOX for a few days. It froze and crashed many times. I might be because I had a somewhat large custom map overlaying the LoMap (about 25 Meg total for custom map) BlueStacks has not given me any problem yet. I have not tried other emulators. I did find a work around to get a track I created on the PC out of the emulated LOCUS APP. I shared it with myself on Strava and then downloaded it to my PC. But there must be an easier way.

Jerry, thanks for the info. Was it NOX or Locus that froze? For me, sometimes LM freezes then restarts very quickly, other times Android will detect LM has crashed & asks whether to send feedback to the developer, but that doesn't work anyway; maybe Play Store crashes as well (which seems to handle the feedback). 25MB sounds like a quite small map? I have set my LM export folder to /pictures which is the default for the NOX Tools>Amaze file viewer. I can then drag the file(s) onto the Windows desktop. I can't change the default from /pictures which is annoying. Similarly all other LM directories are set to /pictures for this reason.

LM, and it did restart quickly . Using BlueStacks it has not frozen yet.

Thanks again Jerry - I might compare BlueStacks to NOX. I last used BlueStacks in 2018.

OK. I figured out how to get an exported track from LOCUS running on the BlueStacks App Player to my PC.

It's a lot of steps. There should be an easier way, but at least this works:

How to export gpx files from LOCUS emulated on PC Windows 11 using BlueStacks emulator.

From LOCUS Maps running inside of BlueSacks, select a track, click three vertical dots in lower right of the “track details” panel (on the lower right) and select export. Then select GPx. The export path is given as /sdcard/Locus/export. Click Export. It should say “track exported”

Back out of the LOCUS app by clicking the left arrow in the upper left till you get to the screen for launching apps. Click on “System apps” and select media manager then

Explore > Locus > export

The file you just exported should be there displayed on the screen

Click Export to windows (in lower left of screen), select the files you want to export and click export to Windows (in upper right) It allows you to select the folder on your Pc to which you want to export it.

Ive used LM4 in bluestacks and the tracks synced flawlessly...

only problem i had is that locus couldnt access the windows filesystem for showing the geotagged photo layer.

which is a bluestacks issue, the bluestacks file manager can easily, but only that specific app..

I also got it to sync. I uninstalled LM4 from BlueStacks and then reinstalled. The first time you open up cloud sync settings it gives you a choice of "download only" or "Unify all data in the app and on the cloud". The second choice has a warning: "highly recommend using Download mode to prevent data duplication. This time I chose it anyway. After creating a track on the PC I sync to the cloud. Then sync on my phone, and the track comes down. I do have to go into the folder and make it visible. It works well now. I do wish there was a way to choose between "download" and "Sync all data to cloud" after the initial setup. If this option exists, I could not find it.

Jerry - check Cloud Sync settings: there you can have all newly sync'd POI & tracks immediately visible, which is a good check for what is "newly" sync'd.

I uninstalled NOX & re-installed BlueStacks. Getting files on/of the latter to a PC seems a little more intuitive. BUT it gives many more messages regards running out of RAM (I have 8GB).

I've never gotten that error on my Windows desktop, but I have 32GB of ram installed

I had issues with 8GB, when i upgraded to 16, that sorted it...

32GB - ha ha - I'd hope not!
