Support for IGPSport SR30 radar

Hello.

After the successful introduction of Garmin radar support, I wanted to connect my IGPSport SR30 radar. Until now, sensor support in Locus map (for example, speed, cadence, and others) has been universal, but radar support is not yet universal and this radar does not work with Locus map. IGPSport radar has in my opinion very good technical parameters, if not better than Garmin (battery life). I really hope to make compatibility for my radar and others.

Hello,

I've changed this topic into an IDEA.

The main problem is, that the radars don't work on any standardized protocol and we need to implement them one by one.
In your case, we have no experience with IGPSport devices and we will probably have to contact them directly and ask for specifications, API access, and ideally a device for testing. This is quite time-consuming and we can't do that for all the devices on the market right now, so if there are any other users with the same request, we take a look.

Regards,

Zdenek, Locus team

Hi. I also need support for the IGPSport SR Mini radar. IGPSport radars are much cheaper than Garmin and have better performance.

I was able to help add the iGPSport SR Mini radar to a developer of a different Android app. All I did was too send him report from Bluetooth HCI snoop recorded in Developers Options and he was able to add the support based on the data.

Let me know, I can send you the same

Best regards

Hi Luka,

thanks for the offer, appreciate it. Let's give it a try. If possible, connect to radar with "nRF Connect" app and dump for me a list of available services, thanks.

Hi Menion

Not sure if it's what you were looking for (I've been using the app for the very first time). Let me know if you need anything else.

BTW, how do you receive a notification when someone answers you on the forum? I don't want to check every time if the is a new answer and don't want to miss it.

Best regards

Hi Luka, thanks a lot!

This is the advertising data only, which already told us one useful thing - the radar does not announce the standard radar service, which is why Locus doesn't list it. To find out what's inside, two more things would help:

  1. in nRF Connect, tap "Connect" next to SR mini and send screenshots of the list of services shown after connecting
  2. the Bluetooth HCI snoop log you mentioned, recorded while the radar is connected to that other app and a few cars pass behind you (rough times of the passes help a lot). It ends up as btsnoop_hci.log inside the bug report zip. Could you also tell us which app it was?

About notifications: you should already get a email notification on every topic you already commendted, or just vote, it should be enough as well.

Hi Mention,

Ad. 1 please find the screen attached

Ad. 2 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y2NG7K8G9QFmdtXnDH_MXTPoKK4Y0HL9/view?usp=drivesdk

It's the log I've sent for the other app, which was useful to add support for the radar. There was quite big traffic, so in every minute radar discovered a car

Yes, I confirm, I've received the email notification, thanks

Best regards

Hi Luka,

thank you, the screenshot is very helpful > the radar uses its own vendor protocol (service 9efb0001-…), not the Garmin one, so we’d need to add it separately. Unfortunately the file from Google Drive is Android’s shortened bug-report summary, which contains only the Bluetooth connection events and no actual data exchanged with the radar.

Could you send the full HCI snoop log instead?

System settings → Developer options → “Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log” set to Enabled (not “Filtered”), turn Bluetooth off and on, connect the radar in the other app, ride with a few cars passing (note the rough times), then take a full bug report. The zip should contain FS/data/misc/bluetooth/logs/btsnoop_hci.log (some phones also store it as btsnoop_hci.log in the Bluetooth app’s folder). Alternatively, in nRF Connect expand the 9efb0001-… service, send a screenshot of its characteristics, and enable notifications on them while a car passes.

Which app did you use for the original capture? Thanks!

Hi Menion,

I generated 2 files for the developer, based on them he was able to add support for the radar

Maybe I've shared wrong one with you last time. Please check both:

The app is called Torqano, but it's in beta stage now, do not yet released to public for everyone on Google Play store.

Best regards

Hi,

firstly, thanks Luka for the push to work on this. I've tried to use your files, but it was not enough for me, so I had to purchase the device. And voala, seems to be working. So in the next (Beta) version, the radar will be ready for tests.
