Wear OS 2026

Solved

Hello,

I’m trying to use Locus Map Watch with a new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 (Wear OS) and a current Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone.

The problem is that Locus Map Watch is not available in Google Play on my smartphone because Google Play reports that the app is too old / incompatible with my current Android version.

I also cannot find “Locus Map Watch” in the Google Play Store directly on the Galaxy Watch Ultra2.

Locus Map 4 itself is installed and working fine on the phone.

Is there currently a supported way to use Locus Map Watch with a Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and a current Android/Wear OS version? If not, is an updated Wear OS version planned?

Thank you!

Hi Robert,

The add-on Locus Map Watch is awaiting a major overhaul that should be done by the end of this year. At the moment, the app is not fully compatible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello Michael,

I specifically ordered the new Watch Ultra 2 because I found the functionality provided by Locus to be so great. I have been using and recommending Locus for several years for this very reason and also ordered several maps and the premium account.

It is quite frustrating to have such a fantastic feature—one that otherwise contributes to a great user experience—now causing issues.

As you mentioned something about the end of the year—is that still the case?

When exactly can we expect this functionality to return?

Best regards,

Stefan

It is actually very close. At the moment, you can install a beta version both on the phone and on the watch. See https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=9736.msg82092#msg82092 at the bottom.

Hmmmmm, same issue here; would like to use it on my new Watch Ultra 2 as that is why I bought it n the first place since Tizen is not supported anymore.

Is there any point in side loading an older APK or does that not work at all currently ?

Regards, Jean

By the way, I just found out that the Samsung Health app on your phone can import GPX-files for the Walking and Hiking exercises and show those on your Samsung Watch Ultra 2!. Probably not the same functionality as Locus Map bit for the time being maybe an acceptable alternative.

This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. After all these years, I finally want to buy a proper Wear OS watch, but I don’t have an app LOCUS for it. I know there are other apps out there—each with its own pros and cons—but I’ve been waiting years for improvements to Locus Watch with new features: updated display, POI search, saving map areas for offline use on the watch.....

I don't want other apps on the watch, I want Locus, which I’ve been using for years on my phone.

Why? If the competition can do it, and Locus Map wants to succeed—rather than just being there to make up the numbers—it needs to show something too. After all these years, we deserve it.
