Menu button non functional

joeloc shared this problem 8 years ago
Solved

The latest update killed the hardware menu button (3.8.2 on Android 4.4.4 on Galaxy Note 2). It used to bring up the main menu, now it simply does nothing.

Thank god... I thought you were going all "iphone" on us... like one hardware button is enough for everyone :).

Nono, but Google thinks about this. Because in new library (used to support also older devices) this possibility is not longer possible. Interesting - and it is not an issue, but their intent. Fortunately there is a way to "hack" this, so ... ;)

New beta - not solved - on both SGS2

(My VMs have no menu buttons)

Correct, not solved as I have no general solution for this now. It is because of change in Google Support library and no hacks I tried works on 100%. So for now, sorry ...

Interesting, because I did no change except change of one small Google Library. Damn, Google is playing with developers .. again :(

Anyway, good that this hack works now. But just keep in mind, that functionality is really a "hack", so it may happen, that soon or later, button will again stop working!
