sqlite map from Alpenvereinaktiv app doesn't load

Hrabosh shared this problem 8 years ago
Not a Problem

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.alpstein.alpregio.AlpenvereinAktiv
  2. select area and click download (for example winter DAV map with steepness of slopes)
  3. you can find sqlite files in sdcard > AlpRegio
  4. run Locus
  5. maps > offline maps > add external maps and select AlpRegio directory
  6. nothing (restart or so doesn't help)

If I rename the file(s) (sqlite > sqlitedb) then Locus detect it, bud doesn't load it.

And why do you think, Locus can load this map?

'think ALPSTEIN Tourismus GmbH & Co. KG creates his own sqlite format.

Because, in general, Locus states that they support SQLite format: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external

I have no idea about standards in SQLite maps formats (I didn't find any smart article about the topic), but I guessed that a such data should be software independent.

Different format! The coordinates are of the tiles where hashed by an unknown function

Sorry for the bad news.

btw. Locus also offers "Outdoor active" map.

GRRR!

Outdoor active map has only summer layer (as well as Kompass). And both doesn't have slope steepness.

And another bad news.

Electricity sucks! I mean something like this:

Steepness is vital for skialpinism when you guess avalanche danger.

Sure, as I wrote... bad news.

gynta: funny answers, thanks :).

So ... "SQLite" is not a map format!! SQLite is database system used for storing all possible data. Locus decided to use SQLite for storing maps But how Locus store them, how other apps store them, is individual. There is no standard SQLite specification for storing maps. So sorry, but using these maps is probably not possible.

Missing layer in Locus - we decided, not to include these layers into Locus maps. Anyway they are available. So if you create a topic with this idea and will be interest in it, we may try to negotiate conditions with Alpstein team and maybe! they will allow to add them also into Locus.
