Provide other means to display sunrise-sunset details

At present the only way to see the sunrise-sunset details is via the top panel:

These can be very useful details to know, but probably checking them once a day is sufficient. With my larger buttons I just can't afford the precious screen space to have the top panel always displayed. My buttons are arranged to use all the space as below:

So would it be possible to provide other means to display sunrise-sunset details, for example via the settings > More functions menu?

Hello Andrew,

I was more thinking about some combination of http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/offline-weather-buffering ... where top part with location, sunrise/sunset times, should be visible in all cases (online/offline), bottom part then only when internet will be available or some cached data (as is in mentioned idea). What you think? Because sorry, but separate action button that will only display these times is just too much for such tiny feature.

hmm, not sure on buffering weather for later viewing. Similar to sunrise/ sunset, I just view it once then not needed to waste screen space. Certainly a separate action button to combination of weather/ sunrise/ sunset (etc.) would be great.

My main point, and experience, and is also more general point, is that I can't afford valuable screen space to have this information (tiny feature) displayed all the time. If there was another method of only displaying information (sunrise/ sunset, online/ offline weather) only when really required it would be good. Depending on the users current activity - route planning, navigation, track editing, maybe checking weather (!), different combinations/ sets of on-screen features are required - context driven screen layout. This original suggestion could, without specific change for this tiny feature, be implemented by automatically linking current activity to more flexible screen/ dashboard layout. There has been much discussion on such a feature.

There could be a set of predefined activities (as listed). The user could also add others to the list (eg. trivial example sunrise/ weather "activity"). Then link a screen layout to each activity. Layout could switch automatically but also be manually switched to user defined activities too. Maybe from quick settings. Sorry, big digression, but good opportunity to dream too ;-)

Hello Andrew,

yes, good opportunity :). Unfortunately I have to decline this idea. No separate action for this is simply possible without overloading UI with another bunch of tiny features. I see solution in "Weather screen", where top part should simply be visible in all cases so you should see sunrise/sunset no matter if you have internet connection. So only requirement will be "Weather" button in toolbar. Update of "Weather" screen is planned, so I'll keep this in my mind. Thanks for understanding.

No worries. Always good to dream. Although same issue with any "Weather" button - it is wasted space on small screen, so other methods - settings > More functions, could also be additional option to investigate.

I have enabled settings > More functions > Weather. I hadn't checked this screen before sorry. Very logical to combine sunrise/ sunset with this existing weather information. However when internet is not available (as screen cap below), none of the data is displayed including offline sunrise/ sunset times. What was the "minor change in Weather dialog" for 3.20.1?

Changes are related only to size of dialog, permanently visible top location bar and style of loading of weather. I was trying to create also permanently visible sunrise/sunset values because of this topic, but after three hours I've closed it as "not possible for now".

Thanks for trying.
