Error 1221, 1811 at initial startup after fresh install of locus 3.5.3 on android 2.3.5 device

Hello folks,

i'm using locus pro for some years now and it's become one of my favorite apps and my top location app. Unfortunately i had to replace my old HTC Desire HD by another device, but it's the same model (HTC Desire HD), same android version 2.3.5. So i thought migration must be quite effortless, but it isn't so far.

First, i backed up all apk files from my old device and reinstalled them on the 'new' one, so also the google play app, as the phone had only the formerly google market app installed which is out of service meanwhile. After google play app installation, which worked fine, i tried to install locus from app store, but this version was not compatible with my device. So i installed my restored locus pro apk file. At initial startup of the app, i was prompted to click 'download' to install some additional files (5MB) from the internet. I made sure wifi is turned on and stable and hit download button. A progress bar appeared and after some 30 seconds it prompted 'process unsuccessful' ('Prozess nicht erfolgreich') Error: 1121, 1811.

I looked up this error code on the faq at this website here, where it's suggested to make sure background data is activated. Background data and automatic synchronisation is activated on my device. I also already cleared cache of google play app, restarted my device, tried another wifi access point, but nothing helped. I only managed quite effortless to install locus free 3.5.3.

On my old device (same model) locus pro 3.5.3 is running like a charm and i cannot migrate it, please help keeping my favorite app!

By the way, my phones are not rooted, so i guess i'm unable to make a full backup of user app memory, which i thought would be a promissing migration path. But when rooting the device, all user data will be wiped i guess, so this won't help.

I justed looked up the purchase date of locus pro in my google play store account. I purchased it on 22.08.2011, wow that's quite a while...astonishing how time flies...

Dear Roland.

Thank you for your email.

Currently Locus version is compatible with Android 4.3 and more.

For your device 2.3.5 is compatilbe the last Locus version 3.5.3. If you would like to use Locus app 3.5.3 on your second device, please add the same Google account which you used for Locus purchase.

In case of troubles, please contact me.

Kind regards

Hello Hana,

thank you for your feedback. I have only one google account. Both devices use this single account. When i search for Locus Map Pro in Google Play Store, it is not found. Only if i go to 'My account' - 'Order history' in play store and scroll all the way down, i see Locus Map Pro listed there. If i click on view, the play store page of Locus Map Pro appears, but it's marked 'Your device is not compatible'. But that's not the point, as i have the backed up apk file. Problem is, that it does not initialize during first startup as described above.

Cheers,

Hi Roland,

I found this topic or this topic in Locus Help Desk with similar problems. In this link, you get an "original" 3.5.3 apk-file from Locus.

I hope the solutions mentioned there help you too.

Hi c.s.g, thank you for sharing your findings. I tried all of your links, and at least the second one lead to a partial success. I could install locus 2.13.1 pro for Android 2.1. But that version naturally lacks many of the new features of version 3.5.3, that i run on my former device.

I had big hopes in the solution fof the first link, which proposed to delete the 'locus' folder from sd-card after uninstall. But that didn't work for me, unfortunatelly.

Many thanks, anyway!!

Cheers,roland

Update: After some changes in user configuration of locus 2.13.1 the issue with the failed license check happend also here. So even locus pro 2.13.1 does not work anymore after reinstall.

Hello Roland.

Thank you for your reply. In this case, please, install also AndroidPIT appstore http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:devices_older_android because, I think you've purchase Locus via AndroidPIT app.

Hi Hana, i gave android pit a try anyway, but it did not work, because i do not even have an account at android pit.

You still provide the old version of locus pro for Android 2.x here, but to me it looks like the license validation check of locus pro is not compatible with google play store any more. So either the user had installed locus pro in the past, or it can not be reinstalled any more. If someone want's to reinstall locus pro on his Android 2.x device it just might fail, which i think is really sad.

Dear Roland.

Hello Hana,

i've good news. It finally worked!

All i had to do, is to clear cache of the already installed app. Then remove updates of google play store app. And then start locus. The initialization process downloaded the 5MB from online and locus 3.5.3 pro works like a charm now.

This supports my suggestion, that the license verification is not compatible with google play store on android 2.3 devices anymore.

Cheers,

roland
