Locus Addon FieldNotes - Import possible?

Hi out there,

I am looking for an android app to organize my fieldnotes which I create on my garmin devices.

There I get a geocache_visits.txt which I can copy to my android tablet (using USB OTG), and there I want to add some text and then upload it to groundspeak.

Is there a way to upload a textfile called geocache_visits.txt to your app? So this would be perfect for us!

Perhaps other users would be interested in using this addon this way, too.

Bye and thanks,

Perhaps the ability to export and import FieldNotes could be implemented so that we could keep our phones and tablets in sync.

Good day Martin, John,

at least small workaround: in latest version of Locus Map 3.26+, it is possible to import caches where is also own "Found" log. If Locus find such log during import, it will automatically create field note in database.

I also miss sync of finds in my devices (phone, tablet). I use the phone for looking for caches and tablet for planning. At the end of the day, I want to have my finds in tablet too. I exported the txt file from my phone, but I can't import it to Locus in my tablet.

I haven't posted the logs online (as an owner I hate logs "TFTC. More later."), I use only field notes. GC API (probably) doesn't allow to download these notes from the web.

Is it possible to sync finds (using filed notes) on Locus? How?

I'm adding myself to this topic - is it possible somehow to transfer (local) field notes between more android devices?

When I export geocache and then import, it is market as found, but with no field note.

Thanks

Martin

I maintain my own field notes separately (as I have long delays in logging on geocaching.com and I want to know what I have found before logging it) and as a workaround, I use my own application to convert my list of finds into a large SQL insert command and then using SQLiteDatabaseBrowserPortable I edit the field notes database. It is definitely not foolproof or comfortable, but it works if you really need to re-create the field notes DB for Locus.

I don't need it that much that I'd create an app for it, I'm rather curious why it's not exported when exporting a cache from Locus (even just the date found).

I want them there just for my purposes so I know when I found caches. I log them on GC.com separately and manually.

Hmm own logs in exported GPX will be added in next version, not a big problem I believe.

@Josef , isn't this little overcomplicated? In worst case, you may directly edit field notes (drafts) in Locus Map own database stored in Locus\data\config\gcFieldNotes.db .

Btw. I'm not sure what more is needed in this idea. As I wrote before, it is already possible to import all your logs if you generate "Pocket query" with own founds on geocaching.com. It is also possible to export all logs into text file directly from Locus Map > more > Logs manager.

"Hmm own logs in exported GPX will be added in next version, not a big problem I believe."

Great news, menion, thanks - will them be imported when importing GPX in Locus then?

Nothing more needed from my side.

Yes, they will. I've just tried to export cache together with own logs into GPX and then import it back into empty Locus installation. Only what is needed is to define "Owners name" in geocaching settings.
