This is due to the error of binding the calibrated card.

If the map is made from a photograph, the error can be very large.

However, I can easily calculate the projection between the same objects on the map and on the calibrated map. Then use this projection for any arbitrary point in the neighborhood, to get its exact location.

This problem I have long been trying to identify. :-)

thank you for the precise description. I perfectly understand your problem, but the mentioned idea is only a workaround for the bigger problem with "incorrectly" calibrated maps.

I have to decline this idea because solving issue with placing of the calibrated map seems to me like a way to go. Thanks for understanding.

I just welcome such a proposal. :-)

I would be happy if I could drag a calibrated map with my finger relative to the main map and throw it at the right place. I think this would solve the problem.
