Calculation of the projection between two arbitrary points

A tool is needed to compute the projection between two arbitrary points so that the results are preserved when the "Projection" tool is opened.

Good day,

in current version is already possible to compute distance & bearing between two points in menu > more > Geocaching tools > Line tools.

Is this what you are looking for?

Yes. Nearly.

Only I do not need to draw a line.

I need a button to "Save"

And when the "Projection" tool opens, this result is used as data.

May you please describe what exactly you want to achieve?

I understand "you need something", but I need to be convinced that feature I implement "needs (all) users".

I'll try.

This is due to the error of binding the calibrated card.

If the map is made from a photograph, the error can be very large.

However, I can easily calculate the projection between the same objects on the map and on the calibrated map. Then use this projection for any arbitrary point in the neighborhood, to get its exact location.

This problem I have long been trying to identify. :-)

How to find the real location of the goal?

1 - object on the calibrated map

2 - object on the map

3 - target on the calibrated map

4 - real location of the target

Hello,

thank you for the precise description. I perfectly understand your problem, but the mentioned idea is only a workaround for the bigger problem with "incorrectly" calibrated maps.

I have to decline this idea because solving issue with placing of the calibrated map seems to me like a way to go. Thanks for understanding.

I just welcome such a proposal. :-)

I would be happy if I could drag a calibrated map with my finger relative to the main map and throw it at the right place. I think this would solve the problem.
