GoogleMap sharing to locus

Stephan shared this problem 5 years ago
Solved

Using this link

https://goo.gl/maps/LKmmMuxiBVK2

and trying to share this position directly with Locus, I get such a search in Locus

77099db3cb0c1389904937a5c5d995fe

But there is no searchresult.

In other cases I get GPS-coordinates. But the search is not able to get a result.

But if I open tis link with firefox and choose the yellow marked button and share with locus

61ceb7aa8d4248ca03840ae0fbea612c

then Locus show the correct positon.

If I am tapping on this link in my mailapp and share with Locus, Locus show the correct position.

Why it is not possible to transmit such information directly from the googlemap app to locus? The link I am using is created by the google map app.

Edit: This works all with Bluestack, not om my S7, because the link calls allways the google map. But if you look to the screenshot

61ceb7aa8d4248ca03840ae0fbea612c

the decoding of such link contain GPS-data and Locus should be able to decode this data.

Hi Stephan,

Search of online addresses in Locus searches only postal addresses (street, house number, city), not URL links. If you want to copy coordinates from Google Maps to Locus, copy the coordinates directly:

/40e56add8ec0145963ce886babd23750

And then go to Locus > Search > Move to... > Clipboard.

Does it work like you expect?

This all does not work with links created with the share button in the streetviewview of googlemaps for example https://goo.gl/maps/qnW5u79HMkG2.

If you scroll through streetview and want to share a point, you can not, because going back to the map is going back to the start point not to the end point of your streetview session.

But every Browser is decoding this link to an URL with GPS-data.

Hi Michal,

It works. But it is not very comfortable.

Hi Menion,

thank you. I was able to install the beta version. But using the share button in GoogleMap I do not get offered Locus Free only Locus Pro. So I uninstalled Locus Pro, but after restarting the device GoogleMap do not offer me to share with the BetaVersion.

Kind regards Stephan

Hello Stephan,

thanks for tests. I think I've found the reason why this does not work. So next Beta version (will be published tomorrow) please, thanks.

I have shared from the streetviewview from Google maps. The result was useless. After sharing locus got in the first case the information for the adress search B1414, nothing more. Do you know how many B1414 are existing in this world? Locus did not offer the road I have seen in streetview.

The next try cause the result Chapel Rd. This road was in Harwich (England). Locus brought me using google in the adress search of locus to Cleveland USA.

Abstain from decoding the textinformation included in the share information, decode the GPS-data which is also contained in this sharing informations. It is the only reliable way that locus find the correct place. This regards to all share possibilities from googlemap app to locus.

Good day Stephan,

we have yesterday publishes new Locus Map 3.37.0 where sharing links from Google Maps were highly improved. So please give it a try and let me know if it works better now. Expect it won't be working in 100% of all cases, but we should be close. Thanks.

There is no reaction, if I share from the share button in streetview. There is no change in the mapview in Locus.

If I share from the map in Googlemaps,

Case 1: I share a place, which is connected to a street, it seems to work fine.

Case 2: I share a place, which is not connected with a street, the result is very unprecise.

In GoogleMaps535b530d21dad7d1ac8d0fe3a85d6bd8

The result in Locus:9774b4a83fc690ddc605a82c1a0b2ace

Yes, this seems to be an unsolvable problem. In this case, Google Maps sends to Locus Map this information:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ystradgynlais,+Swansea,+UK/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x486e4fbc27b66a41:0x57169cfeafe6ef85!7e2!8m2!3d51.818641199999995!4d-3.7101838?utm_source=mstt_1
As you see, there are no coordinates, just a "Name". So Locus Map tries to convert this to coordinates and you see result. If you display same Url in web browser, you get same result as with Locus Map, stupid.

1. There are GPS-Data in your link.

51.818641199999995 and -3.7101838

Which is shown in Locus Map as

585315a81af344fcca35c0592488c50bThis link is resolved in many browser using Android or windows to this URL

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ystradgynlais,+Vereinigtes+K%C3%B6nigreich/@51.8048827,-3.8255621,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x486e500a3ecfd0af:0x1ad067563183abb5!8m2!3d51.8186412!4d-3.7101838

GPS-Data: 51.8048827,-3.8255621

This is a different point. But everywhere GPS-Data. I do not know which GPS-Data you tried to share.

Edit: In the resolved or referred link are additional GPS-date

51.8186412 -3.7101838, which seems to be the same GPS-Data I discovered in your link.

Ah you've got it, perfect, thanks! Coordinates are really hidden inside this long "data" key.

Nice, so next version = another try.

You have take notic of the fact, that using the share button in the streetview section in googlemaps, there are no reaction of locus.

If you are looking for the gps-data, googlemap transmit the information in this scheme:

Text Shortlink

like

Gesetzte Markierung

In der Nähe von Abergavenny, Vereinigtes Königreich

https://maps.app.goo.gl/KWdDT

https://maps.app.goo.gl/KWdDT is resolved or referred to a URL containing gps-data.

In this case:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/51°53'14.8"N+3°00'49.3"W/@51.887453,-3.013705,16z

photo

Good day Stephan,

last mentioned link "https://maps.app.goo.gl/KWdDT" should work, at least I've tested it now and seems to display result correctly

This are places which do not work.

Wales

https://goo.gl/maps/dUW1jjGAzwj

National Cycle Rte 81

https://goo.gl/maps/3anaFmyVgJt

A920

https://goo.gl/maps/KBJn1uF4mnm

Mývatnsöræfi

https://goo.gl/maps/j17tE1dsu8S2

This informations are created in this way. Using the sharebutton in the streetviewsection in the googlemaps app.

Using similar places in Italy, Sweden and Norway it works. It seems it do not work, if longitude is a negative value.

After a update of googlemaps, it seems everything works fine.

Interesting :).

Anyway I've found one small problem, so in next Locus Map version, it should be again a little bit better.

Thanks for the help for now.

I do not know, whether it is the issue you are talking:

Searching places like in googlemaps "London, Victoria Station" Rotterdam Central" clicking on a searchresult and than using the share button causes no reaction by locus.

Tested on 2 devices,

Hello Stephan,

seems this is another different format.

This time it's https://maps.app.goo.gl/SbDDN , which redirects to https://www.google.com/maps/place//data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x48760521aaebdc4d:0x5d364f36086cfd15?utm_source=mstt_1 . Unfortunately, your previous tip to extract coordinates from "data" parameter does not work here. Any ideas?

photo

Google provide in this case enough textinformation before the URL to find the location with the online search of locus using goolge.

If you copy the content of the share button, asking for Victoria Station to the clipboard, there are to find this information:

London Victoria Station

Victoria St, Victoria, London SW1E 5ND, Vereinigtes Königreich

+44 343 222 1234

https://maps.app.goo.gl/SbDDN

photo
1

And how this helps here? When you click on this "share" button, only what Locus Map receive is the link, nothing more. So I'm worried, this kind of Url currently have no proper solution.

photo
1

You are really sure, that Locus get different information than the clipboard using the same sharebutton.

Here a screencast, how I use the the same sharebutton triggering the first time Locus, the second time the clipboard. You can see all the text before the url.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kLUC_2CGx_xBktBi4Hf7McMNGO8owHVi

In one of the upper posts, we are talking about, that googlemaps give not enough text information in front of the transmitted URL to locus, so the searchresult is bad. And now there are no text information?

photo

Hmm this is interesting, I'll check it thanks.

Fine, this one should be solved as well, thanks for help.

If Locus Map is unable to extract coordinates from "data" value, it will use starting text and perform basic "address search".
