Wrong position after saving in routeplanner in 3.38

After saving in routeplanner, Locus does not remain at the currently displayed position but jumps back to the position when routeplanner was started.

Locus should stay at the currently displayed position - as it was in 3.37

Hi Wolfgang,

before you enter the route planner, center your position on map (centering button is blue). Then make a rout in the planner, save it, you get back to your centered position.

Hi Michal,

sorry, but in my use case of route planner this problem remains a problem.

How do I use route planner: Very often I get tracks which I have to follow (long distance bike tours - aka Brevet). I use route planner not to plan the route (because it's already predefined) but I need route planner to add navigation points on track points - e. g. "turn left" at a road junction.

To insert the navigation points I follow the track on the screen, I switch between different maps to decide whether I need a navigation point at a road junction, then I activate route planner to set the navigation point, then I follow the track inside route planner and set navigation points where I think I need them, when I want to switch to a different map I save the route and close route planner - especially in this situation Locus should stay on this actual position (and not switch back to where it was started).

As a consequence I downgraded to 3.37.2 because of this problem.

Hi Wolfgang,

I see, so you don't use centering during this activity, right? You browse the map and when you need to add a navi point, you switch to the route planner, then go on browsing the map in it, add points, then save. And then Locus jumps back to the position where you switched Route planner on and it doesn't stay on the position when you saved the route - is this the case? I just need to be 100% sure we understand each other correctly so that I can forward this to the main developer.

Hi Michal,

yes - that's exactly the way I use route planner.

If there is some room for improvements: It would be great to be able to switch to different maps inside route planner. When I follow the track in route planner and add navigation points to the track I would like to be able to switch to different maps to decide whether I need a navigation point at a road junction. Today (back with 3.37.2) I save the route in route planner, then I'm in the main screen where I can switch to other maps to decide whether I need a navigation point, then I start route planner again and insert the navigation points...

Hi Wolfgang,

we know, this peculiar "problem" is caused by impossibility to change maps within the planner. So far, we are looking for some technical solution how to make it possible. It is not as simple as it seems. For the time being, please vote here: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/map-selectorquick-map-selector-inside-route-menu-in-router-planner.

Your usecase, i.e. progressive editing of a long range route with more maps, is a bit out of common use for route planner. So for now we thing the current behavior is acceptable.

Hi Michal,

my use case of route planner with the navigation points might be a special use case - but it's the only way to get navigation points into an existing track. In the era before route planner the possibility of adding navigation points was part of the track editor.

At least, please change Locus/route planner so that it stays on the position when I saved the route (my initial issue).

Hi Wolfgang,

we'll definitely try to solve the issue with map switch within the route planner as it is quite wanted by many users. But I'm afraid without more demand for the second "problem" with jumping back we'll leave it as it is. Thanks for understanding.

best regards

Michal
