Cursor position not always correct

Wolfgang shared this problem 6 years ago
Solved

Hi,

since the big update (map rendering engine) some weeks/months ago I mentioned a problem. Till yesterday I thought I'm alone with that but then I heard from friend having the same issue.

For cycling I have a profile set with map rotation and shift map cursor. This worked fine but sometimes (since mentioned app update) the cursor is placed at the button of the map.

I could not yet identify when this exactly happens. The most things I do is guide on to a point and then I zoom in and out, move the map and then I switch back to map center (left bottom button)

One other thing what happen is when I press the map center button (left bottom button) it normally stays highlighted but sometimes it switches automatically off. See attached video.

I think both problems belong together.

Sorry that I'm not able to describe what to do that this happens.

Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang,

really interesting problem I never saw on own device. It is probably clear that without an option to simulate this, I won't be able to fix it.

I remember I made smaller changes related to centration system a few weeks ago and these changes are already in public Beta. So if you are a Beta tester, please give a try to recent Beta version. New version 3.40 will be (on 50% published next week, or a week later). If till then you do not find any reason, we may try to dig deeper with next 3.40 version out. Thanks.

Hi Menion,

yes I know that without being able to mention how to reproduce this it's almost not possible to find once the problematic code part. But because I now mentioned that I'm not alone I have a little bit of hope.

I'm not a beta tester. Locus is to important for me to test with betas ;) I'll stay tuned and will update this thread when I mention something....

Thanks Wolfgang

Oki understand. Then please, try it with next public version 3.40. If there still be the same issue, at the moment it happens, please do a backup of settings (in menu > more > backup manager) and send me please this small file. I should then restore it on own device with hope, some combination of settings cause this mess on my device as well. Thanks!

Thanks Menion, I'll wait for the next version and then I'll do some testing. It's not so easy to go through all the setting files to check them what's included - so first I wait before I share them.

I also had this behaviour, but could not really reproduce it. I also work with different profile settings (1. Geocaching with no centering and rotation, 2. car navigation with centering and rotation and autozoom to speed). Maybe it has a relation with my other topic of not updating (freeze) of the position...

Do you maybe also use OpenAndroMaps (ML - v4) - that's what I have. Not sure if it also has to do with that.

I mostly use Locus Maps (vector).

Good to know, so it cannot be map related.

Hello Wolfgang, druki,

I did not receive any similar report from other users so I'm not sure if the problem is or isn't solved in receive 3.42 version. I made quite a lot of smaller fixes in this version, so my hope is that this problem was fixed as a side-effect. Let me know, thanks.

I could solve my problems by deleting and reinstalling Locus again. I made backups and restorung it worked fine. So for me, there is no more problem.

Hi Menion,

myself got reported this problem by two others. Mostly the problem occurred while riding a bike. But unfortunately a did not ride a bike for a long time. So currently I can't give facts for the moment.

The best would be to close the ticket in that case and if I get the problem again I'll just update it or open a new one. I guess it will take some months for the next ride....

Thanks Wolfgang
