Locus crashes immediately on start after reinstallation from factory reset

Peter Cloet shared this problem 10 years ago
Solved

I have a serious problem with Locus Pro.

Due to some issues with my phone, I had to perform factory reset.

I then re-installed Locus Pro through the Market Place.

However, when I start it up for the first time, Locus crashes just after the EULA page. After that when I try to restart, it crashes immediately. Clearing the data from the "applications menu", doesn`t solve the problem.

I tried installing Locus Free and have the same issue there aswell.

I am running Locus on a Galaxy S GT-I9000, firmware 2.3.6 (I9000XXJW4).

Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJW5-CL1045879 dpi@DELL141 #2

Build Gingerbread.xwjw5

Hope you can help!

Regards,

Peter

Sorry for the late reply.

I found the cause of the problem.

The onboard GPS was not activated during the first startup of Locus. As soon as I fired it up with the GPS activated, it started properly.

Thanks for your interest.

This shall not crash Locus. Locus shall be usable with and without activated GPS in Android system.

I have GPS mostly disabled and never got a crash when starting Locus (at least not due to missing GPS)

mmm... let me be more specific.

It only crashed Locus on the first use. I couldn`t get passed the EULA screen as long as I hadn`t activated a GPS device.

Once it had started once, I can start Locus regardless the GPS being on or off.

-> so fixed ;)

Indeed. Fixed.

But... I have a feeling this is actually a bug as it shouldn`t behave this way. Even when the GPS is not activated, Locus should not crash on FIRST startup just after installing it.
