Added Points on a map

1.

Some time ago, in previous versions of LM, there was a setting "export_photo_width=..." in the config.cfg, which had been preserved between LM updates, as far as I remember.

In recent versions of LM the setting is deleted and/or the whole config.cfg is replaced, so I have to return that setting in the file manually. What I want, is to set width of a taken photo to 1400 px (instead of default 60 px), so I see the photo clearly in Google earth when I open the kmz there.

My question: has that setting been moved somewhere in the application for easier access or I have to manually correct config each time ?

2.

I have set a short custom sound, 7 sec,, to remind me when I approach an added point on the route. I used that feature for years. However, that feature doesn't work for me any more. I mean, there is no sound/reminder when I approach a point. Is there any new setting that I have missed ?

3.

When I add a point on a map, I used to specify an icon for the point. That was working fine before and I was able to see the point with the specified icon on a map. For some time, however, the points that I added are displayed on a map as red dots without icons I specified during the creation process. Furthermore, there is no point label appearing when I place center screen cross mark above a point.

What am I doing wrong now ?

I have tested these on my two mobile phones, Samsung/Xiaomi, Android 9. Furthermore, all above, I have noticed for some time, since LM ver. 3.43, possibly even before.

Hi Wolfgang

Thanks for your help.

1. OK, that is solved, although I would like that a photo displayed in Google Earth has thinner white frame around (see attached image).

2. Yes notification is activated. However, no sound is triggered when approaching points.

3. There is only "Default point icon" in expert settings. However, I see on a map neither Default point icon nor the icon that I define when creating a point. Only small red or white dot. It seems as icon files are missing from my installations on both phones. On the other hand, when I export those points to a kmz file and display it in Google Earth, I can see correct icons displayed.

Hi Svjetlana,

1) I'll notify @Menion (the main developer)

2) what feature did you use to be notified of the approaching point? Was it guidance or "Point alert"? Does Locus have system permission to access custom sounds?

3) do you define individual point icons or do you save points in specific folders that have custom icons? Do you use icons from Locus selection or icons added from elsewhere? Go to Locus settings > Points&Tracks > Point label content > Basic settings > Show on map - select "On hover". Check the same at the individual folder settings.

best regards

Hi Michal,

1) OK, thanks.

2) It is Point alert and Locus has permission. In the mean time, I have succeeded to get the alert. What I did, is I checked the folder in which are the points for me to be alerted (see Screenshot 1). I cannot say for sure, but as far as I remember, in some previous versions of Locus I didn't have to check the folder, but only make points visible, on which I want alert. I don't know if Locus alert on each point in a folder or only those points from the folder that have been made visible. For example, I may have en-route 35 points in a folder and I want to be alerted on 3 visible points only (32 other points are hidden). Sure, I can copy/move those alert points to a new folder...

3) Whatever I do, there are no icons displayed on a map (see Screenshot 3, small yellow point just above cross-mark). However, I see correct icons on the Edit - Basic info window. When I create a point, I define an icon form Locus selection and I save the point in default Locus Favorites folder (see Screenshot 2). Furthermore, I don't see Point label when hovering above, although I have settings as you wrote above,

Thanks, Best regards,

Hello Svjetlana,

border 150px was set after a discussion with the @balloni55 in this topic. To be true, I do not know if there may be any side-effect when setting a thinner border. Balloni knows all about these values ;).

Hello Menion,

I don't know if balloni opens a kmz in GE on mobile phone or on a desktop monitor. However, here are few photos opened in GE on my desktop PC/monitor. My setting for "export_photo_width" is 1400px.

Attached photo "Landscape" has been taken in landscape orientation of phone, "Portrait" in portrait mode, both taken with LM ver. 3.49. Photo "Landscape before" was taken with LM ver. 3.43.

Those photos speak for themselves. I would say that the last one is correctly displayed, without huge white borders around.

Hi Svjetlana,

the point 1 left for @Menion ... :)

As for the others:

2) Point alert works the same all the time - it notifies of a whole folder (see https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:poi_alert) - so if you need to be alerted of only some points from a folder, copy them into a new folder especially dedicated to this feature

3) it looks like the "Favorite" folder settings have other values than the global points settings. Go to the point manager > tap 3dot menu next to the folder and select "Edit" > Show on map - select "General settings".

Hi Michal,

2) OK, understood.

3) "Favorite" folder has the General setting... and still can't get it to work.

I tried to uninstall and then install back fresh Locus, to eventually correct the behavior. To my surprise I was unable to uninstall it. My phone is Xiaomi Mi 9 lite, Android 9, MIUI 10, as originally shipped, no modifications. After uninstall process, the Locus is still there and I can start the app again.

I have set the Locus to control turn on/off of display by tapping onscreen quick access command (see https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/complete-uninstall-before-a-locus-pro-fresh-install-issue). Even if that is the reason why I can't uninstall Locus, my phone says that Locus doesn't have defaults (see attached screenshot) so I cannot clear defaults/System administrator.

Any idea of what the problem might be ?

Hi Svjetlana,

go to your phone system settigs > Privacy > System administrators - uncheck Locus Map. Then it should be uninstallable.

Hi Michal,

I have found that setting buried inside 7th level of system settings. Reinstalled Locus and didn't change any Locus preinstalled settings.

3) However, still no icon on a point that I just added and no label on hover above a point. Please take a look at attached screenshots.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Svjetlana,

small dot you see is a result of the simplification process.

This is affected by the parameter "map_items_points_simplification_till_zoom", which is still available only in config.cfg file. Please change it to value 0 to disable simplification completely and you will see (default value is 10).

Hope this helps.

Hello Menion,

OK, that's it. Now, everything is fine with the points as far as I am concerned.

The only thing that I dislike is too big white border around photos, as I mentioned above ...

Thank your for your help.

Oki, I'll improve this a little bit for such huge custom sizes, into next 3.50 version.
