Distance information when scrolling through a planned trip

I often plan multiple days tracks. My first step is to calculate the complete route from start to destination.

In the next step I'd like to plan stopovers for overnight stays. In route planner the only possibility is to scroll through the elevation profile. Now ot would be great to see the exact distance from start at the along the track going map cursor.

In Komoot there's a premium function to automatically cut a track in x parts when specifying x days.

Such a function in route planner would be the greatest thing.

investigate the Track Editor function for splitting routes/ tracks

Only splitting the tracks isn't a solution in such a case. I'd like to plan some POIs around the track and modify it according to the position of these POIs.

This screen is what I mean. When I have a km limit of e.g. 120 per day, I'd like to see that I'm near the 120 km to look for an overnight stay. After finding a Point therefore, I'd like to integrate its position into the planned track.

Hello Jan,

I think you may use the existing "Itinerary" in the route planner. It is a small new button in the top toolbar. It displays all defined segments along the route.

You may convert any trackpoint to a "via-point" which will cause creating a new segment. If you are not satisfied, you may just press "undo" to return. Give it a try!

That's also not what I need. There I have only 2 points.

I plan a track of e.g. 600km. I have a start point and the destination. It should be a trip of 6 days. Now I'd like to plan the overnight stays at about every 120km. When I now horizontally scroll through the elevation profile of my track it's not easy to see the 120km, the 240km... where I can look for an accommodation.

Better would be a small marker at the map coursor with the distance since start.

Hmm, this looks more like the need for some kilometers marks also in route planner.

For me a km mark at the map cursor in route planner would be enough. But when a mark along the route, please separately customizable for route planner and map view.

The distance markers in RideWithGPS are really handy.

The spacing between RideWithGPS markers is dynamic/ adjusted to current zoom level. No configuration is therefore necessary.

A marker at every x (configurable) km is also a good idea. If not even the better one.

The distance markers in brouter are the same as in RideWithGPS and meanwhile I say, this is the best - and I think easiest - soltution to plan a (multi day) trip in Locus Map.

Such markers would be are really great feature!

And more.

Attach distance tickmark waypoints also @ imported simple (high quality) tracks.

1. Nicely informative.

Add discrete (mini black dot) distance tickmarks (xx km) by the Garmin sym "waypoint".

2. Could so be usefully selected as a next target point for a recalculation.

A well defined target point in case of any unexpected traject deviation.

3. Usefully to be used in the Route Planner. (Select the best corresponding prefered routing profile).

Promote tickmark distance points if within *(xx m) proximity of a nearby road (this according to the selected router profile) into snapped to street Shaping Points. * Deviating trackpoints too far away from a road, so very unprecise positioned probably should be avoided by this selectivity.

4. Route planner by recalculate all action. (Use correct best corresponding routing profile)

Create a NEW navigation track by the snapped to street Shaping Points. GH Router engine will thereby generate turnpoints inclusive most probably some unexpected annoying (180°) U-turns that so do indicate trackglitches.

5. (Auto) cleaning.

Delete all unexpected (180°) U-turns by removing the associated triggering (same position) Shaping Point.

Because of the relative high density steering Shaping Planner Points, removing some will mostly not change the traject.

Do not remove triggering Via Points that by the name can so nicely indicate this is really a PLANNED (180°) U-turn.

Hi guys,

so we may close this topic and focus more on the one of most wanted ideas: kilometers mark right? If so, suggest voting there. It already has quite a lot of votes and it seems not to be so complicated to do ... I'll try to finally look at it at spare time. Thanks for the discussion Jan & others.

Hopefully voted. Last weekend I planned a multiple day trip and switched permanently between LM planner and brouter. I missed the marks in LM.
