This is follow up to this: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/own-custom-icon

and this:

https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/30031-how-to-change-icons-in-android-12android-13

The manual here is outdated or incomplete: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:icons

It talks about Locus folder but does not specify where to find it, that should be added.

Also, it does not work. I have on my SD card following folder: /SD card/Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/

I created folder icons in it and put a zip file into it (I am trying to attach the file, not sure if it works, it is a zip file with four png icons in root). I then restarted Locus. My custom icons are not accessible. Am I doing it wrong or has it stopped working? I am on Android 12, Locus Silver.

Hi Tomas,

"The manual here is outdated or incomplete: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:icons. It talks about Locus folder but does not specify where to find it, that should be added."

- the article was updated

"it does not work. I have on my SD card following folder: /SD card/Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/"

- is this folder the default directory for your Locus map installation? Please check it out in the "About app" section of the main menu

Aha, now it works, weird. I think I had some issue with my file manager, I am on Linux (Dolphin) and I think first tried to create a file, which failed and blocked any subsequent action. When I disconnect and reconnect the phone, it works again.

Thanks for updating the manual! I think the manual should also mention that this needs to be done from a computer. At least on the phone, my file managers tell me that they cannot access the Locus directory.

I am glad it works but a much more user friendly way would be if instead of getting to the manual, the plus icon in Select Icon dialog would allow importing png files or zip files. However I can live with this as it is, thanks again!

Import ZIP file directly. Make a suggestion for improvement where others can vote. Search first, maybe there is already one
