Ability to upload geocaches_visited.txt to geocaching.com?

Gathering feedback

I am the proud owner of a Garmin Monterra. And because I love the Locus App I use both the native apps of the Garmin and Locus. When I want to geocache I use the native ones, well so far anyhow.

Now the problem is that Garmin is a million years behind with their software, and I am just wondering if it would be possible to import the geocache_visited.txt file into Locus Maps (Pro of course) and then upload it to Geocaching.com? Today we can create our own notes in Locus and upload but not import.

Sure I will give you that the Monterra seems to be the only device with a visisted file and the android operating system, but more might come, who knows?

This would really help us Monterra users because now we have quite the chore getting the visited file uploaded. And of course, as a bonus this would perhaps sell some more Locus apps :-)

I've moved this idea to category related to "Add-on field notes" as this task is more for add-on (that generally works with field notes), then for Locus itself.

Anyway I'm worried that your request is really specific and it's usage is really low (for others except you).

When you write that you use Monterra on Geocaching even that their software is "million years behind", I have to ask, why you use Monterra on geocaching and not directly Locus? Is there anything serious you miss in Locus for geocaching?

Sorry, I don't have notifications on.

No I don't miss anything in Locus. The reason I prefer to use garmins native software is because it works with all the desktop widgets and I have the ability to switch between profiles when going from navigating by car to navigating by foot.

I understand that this extra idea is very limited in use. I was going to write my own app for it (I work as an iOS/PHP dev) but groundspeak has stopped accepting applications for API access. That leaves curl or something similar and I think the solution will be sloppy.

I was just hoping that someone would do it anyhow. But I realize you have limited resources and time. Thanks anyway ☺

Garmin Montera is HW device with Android. You can use Locus with all addon's. Do you try it?

Yup, I have. It works just fine. If garmin does not improve their software I will move to Locus exclusively ☺
