Cant disable auto-backup unless valid date

Andrew Heard shared this problem 6 years ago
Not a Problem

If I want to disable auto-backup it shouldn't matter whether the NEXT BACKUP date & time are valid or not. In picture below the date & time is the default when I enter this screen but 1 day in past. When I tap on SET button a message "INVALID DATE" is displayed. Not useful. In fact, to be consistent with Repeat and Keep last fields, if Enable checkbox is unchecked, the date & time fields could be grayed out too to reduce misunderstanding. Maybe the Enable box should be at the top of the screen?

Further background: I disable automatic backups because of the annoying feature in which Locus can't be run at phone startup until the backup is complete - see help topic here,

Maybe I should delete it. Anyway, maybe your question brings me to two things. 1) expect users stop of auto-backup in the same screen where they set it (like you)? 2) is even needed "checkbox" that enable periodic backups? When I set automatic backup, I probably always wants to make periodically ...

Thanks

Good day Andrew,

this is probably miss-understanding. "Enabled" button is realated to "repeat" section. So this "enable" button only allows to switch between one-time backup and period backups.

If you wants to completely disable automatic backups, just move one step above into main menu of "Backup manager". If automatic backup is enabled, at bottom will be last item as "Disable automatic backup", check here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tools:backup#edit_and_cancel

Ok?

Thanks Menion. Yes you are correct. Delete this topic, or maybe useful for others?

I agree with both your points. And 2) overrides 1).
