Navigation does not work without wi-fi

Petr Pavlicek shared this problem 6 years ago
Solved

Calculating a track to a (point) destination works well at home with a wi-fi network. When trying in a terrain without wi-fi, it is "working" for a while and then error message comes up (see attachment). This was happening repeatedly in different locations.

The app is really nice, with a lot of useful functions and very detailed maps. But the fact it can´t navigate just with GPS signal (I have 4 sources!) and internal data is very disappointing. Practically useless in most outdoor places.

My device: Huawei P 10 Plus with Android 7

Good day Petr,

I absolutely agree that offline navigation is really important. Fortunately we have an fully working and well tested solution. Please check this our manual http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_navigate_offline , how to make BRouter fully working. Or just in short, download BRouter from Google Play, in this app download necessary data and in Locus menu > settings > navigation choose BRouter as navigation source!

If there will be any additional questions, feel free to ask.

Hello Menion,

Thank you for the prompt answer. Though a bit complicated with additional map download, the offline navigation seems to be working well with BRouter.

Another question: Is there a reliable way to transfer maps on a SD card and link them to the internal app ? The description in the user manual does not work for me since in Settings/Maps there is no Add map command in the top right submenu/s/

Thanks

Good day Petr,

agree it may be a little bit complicated, but I'm sure that BRouter worth it :).

To you "maps issue". May you point me on the place in manual, where this is wrote? Looks like an incorrect description.

Please look on this page: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_offline#adding_offline_maps . What you need is to move maps to SD card and add them into "offline" tab of "Map manager" as an "External map".

Hope this helps, otherwise feel free to write me.

Wow, I´m impressed with the speed of your answers. I don´t remember exactly where I found that wrong info, I was looking around for a while.

Your suggestion works perfectly - we can consider the problem solved

Many thanks !
