Show photos on the map
Hello
I have downloaded two vector maps for offline use from Locus Store. One for Sweden and one for Denmark. I use the Pro version 3.10.3. I have done a holiday trip in Sweden and Denmark. I have taken a lot of photos from both Sweden and Denmark with the GPS on. When I look at the photos in Gallery and select "Show on map" I don't get the correct map automatically when I use Locus Pro as the app to show the location. If I select a photo in Sweden I have to manually select the offline map for Sweden - if Denmark is the selected map - to get the position shown on the map. Denmark is shown in red in the map list for offline maps. That is to me a selected map. If I select a photo from Denmark and Sweden is the "red" map in the map list I have to manually select Denmark to get the location shown.
My question: Is there a way to get this done automatically so I don't have to do the map selection by myself?
When I use Google Map or Here this is done automatically. I don't have to do the map selection by myself.

Here you can choose "Map autoload", this should does the trick.

Hi Håkan,
when looking for the photos location, try Locus search function > localized photo instead of the gallery > show on the map. As for Google or Here... there's no selection of maps, just Google map or Here map, therefore you don't have to make the selection.

No. I still have to do a manual switch of maps from one country to the other to get the location on the map.

Well, we know about the issue with automatic switching between vector maps. The problem is caused by the fact that Locus doesn't have information about the vector map accurate coverage (unlike raster maps) and therefore border of the map is supplemented by a rectangle roughly outlining the map. In some cases when the mapped area shape is curvy, Locus thinks the user is still in the first map while virtually he is in the second one. Menion will spend some extra hours on this, that's for sure...

Hi, we've improved the map auto-load feature of the vector maps so selecting the right map should not be an issue anymore. Have you tried it yet?

Hello
No, this didn't work for me. I have three Offline maps installed. Sweden, Denmark and Canary Islands. I have Sweden selected as default map. When I select a picture from a vacation at the Canary Island I don't get the map of Canary Island auto-loaded. It's just a white background. If I select Google Maps or Here WeGo the location is shown on the right map.

OK, thanks for your feedback. The next Locus version should bring solution to this.

It still doesn't work. When I select a photo taken on the Canary Islands the map isn't shown.

Hello
As I said before is the map correct shown if I select the correct map before I select the photo. If I want to see on the map where a photo from Canary Island is taken I have to select the map of Canary Island first otherwise the map isn't shown.
I have attached three photos from different countries: Sweden, Denmark and Canary Islands. I have downloaded the maps for the countries to locus map as offline maps.
Good luck
Håkan

Good day Hakan,
firstly thanks for an images. I have to say, that for me, display of these photos from Photo app works correctly. Locus automatically pick right background map (LoMap) and display it.
You wrote it still doesn't work. Just to be sure, are you using latest Locus Map version 3.18.9 where auto-loading system was improved? I made also few small improvements so in next version it will be again little bit better, but no major difference.
Maybe a quick "zoom in" may help as well as it force Locus Map to check for missing map tiles.
Sorry for a complications.

Always thinking along (when I have time) I noticed that 3.18.9 does switch to the correct map and location when searching for a village or addres. But the map name in the topbar of Locus (still) does not change, only after some scrolling or zooming. No big problem.
What's new for me is that , when selecting "display on map" from the gallery, Locus is NOT presented as a choice anymore. Only Google Maps. What the @#$?
Only Google Maps and yes, I deleted any 'app "standard value"/preferred starting app etc.

I use Quick Pic instead of Gallery. In Quick Pic I get the possibility to choose Locus among other map apps. When I choose Gallery Google map starts automatically with no choice of map app.

Aha, but with older versions of Locus and/or Google (Map) apps I think I had that choice also from the (android) gallery.

As I never used Gallery and Locus together I don't know how they worked with order versions.

Hello
Some of my maps were out of date so I had to update them. After that update all the maps where shown correct. Are there any way to get a hint of a new map version for the maps I have downloaded or do I have to do a manual search?
Thanks for your help.
