Waypoint label not shown

R5O.nl shared this problem 4 years ago
Solved

Since recent update, in one of my waypoint groups, the labels of a waypoint are not shown on screen when under the cursor. WPs from other groups do show their labels. When I move such WP to another group, then label is shown, move it back and again the label not shown.

Oh, and now checking for version on screen top left and it does not show any more... But it is the latest one, 3.44.0. I will add screenshots: pls see the red circles.

All points or only a single one in that folder? > tap folder 3 dot menu and change.

I once had +/- identical issue by few single points in a folder, if I still remember correctly. Solved but I did not notice the exact steps, and now forgot how I did. I suppose before changing general folder setting by menu I previously activated all points into visible state.

this article drew my attention to this problem

i have a groupe "geocaching" with folders "Tradi" "Multi" "Mystery" a.s.o.

https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:management&s[]=global&s[]=settings#how_to_add_a_folder

all folders had been set to "global settings" for years, so the POI labels are displayed on hover.

since the last update the folders "Tradi" and "Multi" have been changed to "Never".

The folder "Mystery" in the same group is unchanged after update........

Hi guys,

in recent version was quite a big change in the database structure and this seems to be some unexpected side-effect that passes through my tests.

So most probably, your (R50) issue will be the same as balloni (thanks) discovered. Please check settings of your point folder, if there is set the correct value for the "Labels on map" setting. Thanks.

I see a possible reason for this problem. In case, the folder was really really old (from times where this setting does not exist), there may be an incorrect value in database. I'll fix it for the next version. Unfortunately, users who already updated Locus Map to the recent version will have to fix it manually. Sorry.

EDIT: ah back, I've found a method how to fix this, so let it as is and during week will be new version out with correct fix!

I agree that the issue was fixed by setting the correct value for the 'Labels on Map' setting: I forgot about that param. As it seems, for 1 map of my WPs that settings had dropped. So I was tricked by this side effect. Still, I propose to apply the fix to help out other users.
