Update geocache logs
Completed
Is it possible to build in a button within the Geocaching-Logs-Menu to update the Logs?
Or perhabs also swipe down to update, like it is new in cgeo. ;-)
I have attached a image for an example, how what i mean.

Is it possible to implement this feature? It looks like also interesting for some other users. :-)

Is it possible to integrate this, please? Is the geocaching app actually still maintained at all? It would be a real shame if there were no more optimisations here, as many Locus users are also primarily Geocachers and only use Locus for that reason. I know this is a separate app, but the migration to Locus V4 and its adjustments have also been made. It would be nice if the app, or at least its part within Locus, could also be maintained by the Locus team if the G4L app developers can no longer or no longer want to do this.
Kind regards!
Jens

Hi, if Geocaching4Locus is maintained or not, I do not know. Anyway required functionality has to be implemented directly in the Locus Map itself.
Geocaching is currently not a hot topic for us because of some other priorities, but I believe we will find time on improving geocaching features during 2022. Thanks for understanding.

That sounds very good. I'm happy to wait if it's on the agenda. And sorry for bothering you, I've already seen that I have a lot of things to change. Thank you very much!

To be true, reminding is quite necessary. On this helpdesk is so much interesting topics to do, that more than the number of votes is important activity in the topic :)

Just a friendly bump on this topic. I know many people would appreciate this.

Could be combined with another idea of loading more than 30 logs: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/37768-geocaching-infinite-logs

Hi guys,

One more info ... there will be change in the behavior in published version.
A new "Refresh button" on the logs screen that reloads the latest logs (we used a toolbar button rather than swipe-down); older logs then load on scroll.

Thanks Menion, for this handy improvement!
Still one regular wish of my GC-collegues regarding logs: "Friend's logs" https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/24315-friends-who-found-the-geocache
Maybe a good time to think about it for Locus team, since you are into the technique of GC-logs right now ;-)

"since you are into the technique of GC-logs right now"
Oh, speaking of which... The order of log images is reversed from the order on the website, and has been that way for a few years. (...unless you've just fixed it; I haven't checked.) Minor.

Hi Menion, I tested the advanced logs-features during the last weeks. I general very good! But still some ideas for minor improvement:
1) No need for the large infotext-box on top of each Caches' logs "Only saved logs shown..." => just use the "reload"-icon, and put it right of the blue "Logs" headline. The former info-text can be used as popup-text if a user long-presses the reload-button:
2) If logs have been refreshed using the button, the logs page consists of 2 tabs: "All", "From friends". Very nice! But this is not true if logs haven't been updated: In this case both sections are within one tab, starting with "From friends" followed by "Other". I think it would be more consistent if the layout in both cases stays the same - independent from if refresh got pressed or not.
I would support the 2-tab version, since the 1-tab version has the disadvantage that not the latest total log is displayed on top, but just the latest log of one of my friends - which could have been years ago. And if I have lots of friends :-) I have to scroll down much to get the most recent logs. Or people "oversee" that the logs on top are just those of my friends and think that these are the latest logs... So I recommend this layout:
3) Sometimes we want to refresh logs in the field, e.g. if we want to search older logs for hints or problems with this cache. Right now if we close Logs-page to switch to "Listing"-page or to "Map"-screen, all these refreshed logs got immediately lost (to the number of setting "Stored logs limit"). If we are opening "Logs"-page again, we will also have to refresh Logs again. My advice: Keep all refreshed logs for a longer time, e.g. until Locus gets closed or restarted. Or at least until we are opening another Cache. Or some logic that is used lately for cleaning up of unused images.
