Problems: presets and navigation

Not a Problem

Hi,

Because the following problems in the Help desk have been deleted by you, and the problem still exists, even after the release of version 3.37.1, I put them again for navigation:

Problem 1: Presets

I do:

1) cycling, where in Locus, in the options: Settings> Navigation> "Off-Route" notification, I have a DISTANCE OF WARNINGS 75 m,

2) when I go hiking in the lowland and in the mountains, I must necessarily change in the options: Settings> Navigation> Notification "Off the route" I have a DISTANCE of the WARNING 30 m, considering the effects of a route error.

There is no warning in Presets, however there is NAVIGATION> Recalculation.

I do not understand the users that they did not pay attention to this important fact. I do not understand your team's attitude that I do not want to introduce this option - "Off-route" notification to Presets, which in my opinion is much more important than Recalculating the route!

Problem 2: Navigation

When I use shortcuts on the route when navigating, what I can call a sensation in navigation, ie with total persistence, navigation starts sending intrusive messages that it calculates a route that is, for example, at 6:75 m ... etc, wanting to guide me back to the last abandoned route point in the navigation.

The situation does not improve when I again take a shortcut on the right navigation route, because there are:

1) still messages about conversion and return to the last point of the route OR

2) a change of route that leads me in the opposite direction towards the abandoned last point of the route (!?).

What am I doing? - stop, close navigation and start it again!

The following actions are taken in all decent navigations:

1) if I use a shortcut - this is the moment after the route is recalculated, a combination of this shortcut appears with the route marked in the navigation,

2) after entering the appropriate designated route of navigation with a shortcut, a proper follow-up according to the designated route takes place.

I believe that the Locus solution is unacceptable in the long run, I do not see any justified reasons for sticking to this solution.

Attached - a screenshot with a description of the problem (file attachment)
1. Continuation of the planned route (for a bicycle, development of the BRouter-web).

2. Selecting a different path (a new one - I wanted to check it) than planned,

2.1 - continuation of this new road.

3. Entering a new road (intersection) and ...

4. Proposition of navigation to get the point of the route that I left! ???

5. The nearest point of the designated route and a small section of the road that must be overcome to re-enter the designated route!

That’s all.

Best regards

Waldemar

Hi Waldemar,

1) Presets - selection of features was designed on the base of extensive user survey a few years ago. Out-of-route notification was not much wanted. Nevertehell, your reasoning makes sense so I'm including @Menion in subscription list of this topic

2) Navigation - check your Locus settings > Navigation > Advanced > Strict route following. If it is checked, uncheck it.

Hi Michal,

Option: settings > Navigation > Advanced > Strict route following - it is uncheck.

Hi Waldemar,

1) as for the out-of-route notification in presets - if you want, you may create an idea at helpdesk for other users to vote for it and tag it with "presets" (https://help.locusmap.eu/search/tag%3Apresets)

2) when you make the "shortcut" on your route, does it mean you omit some planned waypoint (via-point - blue square in route planner) on it?

Hi Michal

1) I create all routes in BRouter-Web or GPSies, because I can do it on a PC much faster than Locus. Because the routes they propose are not always acceptable to me, so I give them intermediate points through which they must pass.

2) After importing from the GPX file, I checked the route in Locus (via Modification and Route Planning) and I do not see any intermediate points that are valid in Locus (points marked with blue squares or green triangles).

3) However, if these intermediate points from the above programs are important when navigating a route during navigation, then we have a problem because:

a) there are intermediate points that we have to pass 100% (eg antique places, etc.)

b) there are intermediate points that we insert to get the proper course of the route, not the one proposed.

For the case b) the navigation will be "freaking out" by proposing absurd returns to the omitted points, in a situation where we used a shortcut or a detour!?I’m

As for the vote regarding the placement of "off-route" messages in Presets – I agree.

And finally:

Settings »Different» Sound channel - I have set to Notification stream. Unfortunately, using the headphones (in my case from: Sennheiser CX 686G Sports - directly connected to the smartphone and Skullcandy Method BT Sport - bluetooth) this stream does not work, and supports it Stream of music ?! I conclude that the notifications are set to the maximum, and yet, by silencing or amplifying the music being listened to, I am prompted to mute / broadcast navigation messages.

Hi Waldemar,

depends on what matters to you - the route or the waypoints on it? In the first case, set "route priority" in the route recalculation menu, in the second case, set "point priority".

As for the sound channel - what do you mean by "Notification stream... does not work"? No notifications are heard in your earphones or just Locus notifications are not heard? What do you mean by "by silencing or amplifying the music being listened to, I am prompted to mute / broadcast navigation messages" - what/who are you prompted by?

Hi Michal

I know the consequences of "Point priority" - until the modification of the route, which may not completely coincide with the delineated one, after applying the abbreviation, and that's not what I mean.

All the time I am giving you to understand that "Route Priority" is badly done by you. You wrote that it should be used when making a shortcut or a detour, and I understand it. But I can’t understand why I should make a round to the first abandoned point, after passing the shortcut. So why should I use a shortcut? Have you looked into the attachment - photos (with a description in first writing), analyze it carefully, you will see it as Navigation bad (absurdly for me) solves this problem !!!

For notifications - I have a Notification Streamticked which does not work. Notifications are still supported by the Stream of music ?!

Hi Waldemar,

""Route Priority" is badly done by you" - Locus Map has currently cca 660 000 active installations. If your statement is true, do you think you would be the only one who reports it? We've been repeatedly writing to you that we are not able to simulate your problem. To be sure, I made another simulation - navigation along a route with route priority. Shortcut made, recalculation done, no problem: https://asamm.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi?ssid=064vauD.

Notifications - both notification stream and music stream are supported, both tested. Again, without issues.

Hi Michal

After reviewing your simulation, I started to wonder where the problem is ... and I think I found it.

1) I changed the navigation settings to NO AUTO RECALCULATION and passed within a few km test. Navigation behaved in the same way with you. So it's OK!

2) I have ridden with the Route priority option, which generated problems about I wrote.

I analyzed the Route priority option in terms of the wording in English and Polish.

In polish language this option may be perceived by the Polish user differently than its original wording in English.

a) if the word is acceptable in this text: pl – “objazd" (eng. detour), then absolutely there should not be the word: pl – “skrót" (eng. abbreviation) in it, which gives overinterpretation to use this option for such purposes.

b) I suggest to change description of this option, and absolutely do not use the word "skrót" (shortcut) in it.

My suggestion is:

Pl - Priorytet trasy (eng. Route priority) and its short description in Polish:

Użyj, jeśli chcesz jak najszybciej wrócić do pierwotnej trasy

In conclusion, I would like to ask you for the function: Settings -> Navigation -> Advanced settings -> Maximum allowed deviation - could you give the optimal values for cycling. I set for my bike 300 m.

Hi Waldemar,

thank you for the translation suggestion. I changed the original string (will come into effect in the next version). BTW Locus is translated by volunteers via Crowdin project (you can participate too if you wish). More info at https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:about:translation or directly at https://crowdin.com/translate/menion/all/en-pl.

As for the "maximum allowed deviation" value, it solely depends on the users. I personally use 30 m for all activities.

Hi Michal,

This is the last thing about navigation (+ recording). Well, I changed the option fromRoute priority to No auto recalculation. When using a shortcut, the map screendoes not follow my current position, but only keeps the navigation cursor.Because in this situation I have the map enlargement up to 300%, often thecursor of my position is off the map screen.

And I havea question: Is it possible to do so, but in the above situation the overridingcursor would be my cursor of the current position, not navigation?

I alsowrote that Locus closed itself during navigation and recording. I do not know, but maybe it will lead you to some trail of this situation, because:

1) on2019-04-06 I cycled 130 km,

2) on2019-04-7 I cycled 101 km.

In bothcases I was guided by navigation + enabled route recording, of course with thechanged option from Route priority to No auto recalculation.

Locus hasbeen preserved without any problems.

So Ithought that the above problem may somehow be associated with the Routepriority option?

I apologize for the combined words. This happens when I copy text from Word

Hi Waldemar,

diminish value of the "Maximum allowed deviation" - Locus will switch from navigation to guidance and your real location appears shortly after you get off the original route. Or go to Locus settings > Navigation > Advanced > switch off "Snap to route" option. Your GPS position will always be "real" even when being navigated.

As for Locus working properly on 130 kms of ride or not properly after 80 kms... It is really not easy to say it was a fail of "route priority". We have no proof for it nor against it.

best regards

Michal
