Can I import track groups into locus?

I would like to be able to import data into Locus that would be automatically sorted into groups and folders (or only folders if possible). Can it be done?

So for example, I would have a zipfile with folder A and folder B, each having several GPX files inside.

I would then import the zip file and the folders would get automatically recreated in Locus. Now I would have to manually import them one by one (easy with two folders, but I would like to have 80 of them).

I do not see any UI in the app for this and when I try to import such a ZIP file, it just dumps everything into one folder. I looked at the Backup feature, but that is a SQlite database and I would like to be able to generate the files to be imported programatically based on GPX files. Am I missing something or is this not possible? If not, is there any chancce for it to be included?

(I also saw this: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/more-than-two-levels-of-grouping-pointstracks-group-folder which is somehow related)

Hi,

import of multiple tracks from a GPX file is only possible within one folder of the Library. Automatic creation of a custom folder structure is not available and is not planned to be added in the near future.

Hello, ok, thanks for the quick answer. Can this be converted to a wishlist topic then (or should I start a new one?) It would save me and a bunch of people a lot of manual importing.

You will have to do this work. But users normally have very few folders.
It may be easier to create the folders in the web planner. And then transfer them with Sync. But I'm not sure if this is possible as I don't use the web planner.

presumption? normally? user survey? ;-)

FWIW I have 1 group per year, and 1 folder within the year for each main mode (walk, run, walk, group-ride, solo-ride, public transport, car + routing & planning) - quite a few folders now.

That is correct. But they were not created in one day. A few are added every year.
And then it's not that much work to create them by hand. But creating 60 folders at once won't happen that often.

Well, this is for distribution of https://www.wikiexplora.com/Greater_Patagonian_Trail - it is more than 20 thousand km of trails. Having them in a few folders is cumbersome, as when they are all visible, the app is slow, and making thm invisible requires using search a lot. The trail is devided into about 90 sections, it would be very useful to have them grouped per section to easily turn just the trails in vincinity on and off. When https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/more-than-two-levels-of-grouping-pointstracks-group-folder is implemented, it will be even better as it is possible to group the section into ten or so.

I am now writing a script that automatically applies Locus styling to the tracks (I asked about it here: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/33563-can-i-prepare-a-file-for-import-into-locus-maps-that-would-have-tracks-with-a-custom-style). Locus app is recommended by the manual (page 1140 an on http://bit.ly/GPTguide ) and one pretty much needs to buy Locus license when using it forthis track, so I gues you get a dozeon or more paying users from this a year. Would be great if the setup was not as tedious as it is now (noteteh manual is a bit old, I will try to get it updated to use searchto style the tracks).

I know the problem. I have over 6000 MTB trails in a folder. But there is a function: Show the first 50, 100, 200 trails in my vicinity.

well, that is not a great workaround - sometimes I need to plan ahead so I need to display something not in vincinity.

That works too. Turn off the GPS. Move the cursor to this point. It will be calculated near the cursor. The folder should be sorted by distance.

i see. Well, it is something, but toorandom - I will do the import manually for now.
