Both Satellite maps show "unknown problem"

Since a while, both Asamm online maps "Satellite" and "Satellite with lables" show "unknown problem" while "LoMaps online" works fine. All did already work.

What else could be the cause?

Hi,

is the issue still present? I'm not able to replicate it. The map works OK in Android, web and iOS.

Yes, I just reproduced it now.

Try logging out and logging back in to your Premium account.

I logged out, killed Locus from App switcher, started locus, logged in, same "unknown problem" while LoMaps online work fine.

BTW, would be user friendly detail if you could classify the e-mail input field in the login process as e-mail field – then, no spaces are auto-added after dots 😅 and the keyboard presents an adopted layout (e.g. showing @ and _ but not ' and ?)

Can I somehwere see the actual error message?

No, the satellite maps load normally for me.

Georg, do you use some VPN or another proxy?

Neither nor. As written, other online maps including LoMaps work fine, and same applies to online LoPoints, I assume it has nothing to do with connectivity in general but in the API access restrictions of sat maps – did you change anything in this direction in recent monts?

No we didn't. Nobody else has reported the issue and no one in our team is able to simulate it.

Georg, could you please try this:

- open your default web browser in your phone and insert this link: https://www.here.com/docs/bundle/raster-tile-api-developer-guide/page/topics/playground/playground.html

- turn on "satellite.day" in the "style" section:

b24a7077278949a75e4d00714337c198bc7689c6ded843198908ffe1a5ec5f0b

Do you see the maps in the web browser? If not, there's a problem with the web certificate. If yes, the problem is in Locus Map and we'll go on solving it.

The website is a little "weird" to use on the small mobile display, but yes, I do see sat images and can pan around, both in Ecosia (chromium) and Firefox.51f32f21da7d3e80bd4506c652eb1d28c548209ac6c49ad3eca9bd7be79e2c87

Hello,

please, follow this:

  • Download the beta version from here: http://bit.ly/lmVersionsTest
  • After installation, run the app and long-press the main menu button ( 65ab74f02671fb4a2ceb0db7c0510f6e )
  • Choose the "Log to file"
  • Select the "Log to file" and "INITIALIZE", "INITIALIZE(MAPS)", "MAPS(CORE)", "MAPS(UI)", "LOCATION & GNSS", "FILE MANAGER" categories
  • Then close the app, wait for 10s, and run it again.
  • Try to replicate all your issues (it will be logged this way)
  • After that, send me the logs which will be created in "Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/logs"

Thank you very much.

If something isn't clear, feel free to ask me.

Hi Michal, I backed up, uninstalled previous version including cache + data, rebooted phone, installed v4.30.1.7beta, logged in and sat map worked as well as sat hybrid – hence, I saw no benefit to create a log.

I uninstalled v4.30.1.7beta including cache + data, rebooted phone, installed previous version v4.23.1 (where I do not have the crashes I experience in newer versions), logged in and sat map + sat hybrid map did not work.

  • Did you really not change anything in the API? (see above)
  • As logging is only available in beta, do you have a link to a v4.23.1beta?

I'd like to try sat maps with v4.24.2 which is probably the latest version that does not yet have the crashes but already has the nice features for LoPoints, LoRouter and BRouter. Where can I download it? In https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1c0OmeN5mKBVJs_TazXn1_e2p2QRmSU_k I did only find v4.24.3 and in other APK libraries, the size of current 4.30.1 massively differs from the official downloads https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wYwa7yc8Yc77rLxYQvpeZKcmnSI5nR7n so I fear these libraries might offer compromised APKs.

Hello Georg,

Michal is currently on the vacation, so I'll try to help instead.

Firstly, I have to ask why you want to stick with such old version? Android apps, at least Locus Map, needs constant updates. Soon or later, something stop working without updates. It is the case of satellite maps. We updated some parameters in the February 2025. This is the reason, older versions no longer works.

Difference in the size of APK files is not important. It is caused by different technique of packaging, nothing more.

And you wrote "has the nice features for LoPoints, LoRouter and BRouter" > what had 4.24 version that new 4.30 does not have?
