Gathering feedback

Hi,

because I always use Google Maps to drive to a Geocache location I'd like to have the 'Navigation apps' link in the three dot menu - see screenshot.

Thanks Wolfgang

Great idea. I would like to see this added to Locus Map too!

Over API it would be possible to add a custom Link to the Share Menu of point Detail.

Or another way would be an button in your right panel "open navigation target in GMaps"

I would guess that an Google App link is to specific for locus because some people like to navigate with Google others with Navigon and so on.

If you like I could try to configure an example open in GMaps link with "Tasker"

Google Maps Intent API looks great https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/urls/android-intents#launch_turn-by-turn_navigation. The following paramters could be configureable in a "Tasker" task configuration:

mode sets the method of transportation. Mode is optional, defaults to driving, and can be set to one of:

  • d for driving
  • w for walking
  • b for bicycling

avoid sets features the route should try to avoid. Avoid is optional andcan be set to one or more of:

  • t for tolls
  • h for highways
  • f for ferries

Are you interested in this? Or would you like to wait until it is decided if Locus will implemented or if you will need to use an Locus addon?

I do already guess what the answer of this decition would look like, but don't want to influence anybody ;)

There are so many ways to use start Navigation with external App. Who many examples would you like to have?

  • Google Navigation to Locus Route Start (only Working with active Routing, usefull to Navigate to your Tour)
  • Google Navigation to Locus Route End (only Working with active Routing, usefull to switch from Locus to Google Navigation)
  • Google Navigation to Locus Point Detail (only Working at Point Detail Share menu, usefull if you didn't start any routing)
  • Google Navigation to Locus Map Center (Works allways)
  • Google Navigation to Locus select Target Dialog (Works allways)

And here it is, I did create 2 examples to implement this Idea with addons

One does start Navigation based on Map Centre and the other does start Navigation based on Locus Guide Target.

Nice and great solution with Tasker but I switched to MacroDroid. I still hope that there will be a native solution in future.
