Confusing arrows and voice commands during route navigation?

virtualdj shared this problem 5 years ago
Not a Problem

This week I was using Locus Pro v3.32.2 to navigate a route created with the wonderful Route Planner (thank you for that, trail snapping is GREAT!!!) with voice commands. The map is the vector OpenAndroMap.

Sometimes, however, the arrows and the voices are confusing; consider this case for example:

Can you explain why the arrow on the top left part [1] tells me to turn RIGHT while the arrow the map [2] correctly says to turn LEFT?

The voice command was "secca a destra" in Italian, which I think will be translated to "hard right" in English, but anyway... that's not RIGHT, it should be LEFT... Or am I missing something?

This does not happen all the times, of course, but especially with mountain trails it's safer to watch the map instead of trusting the suggestions or the arrows.

Give it a new try pse. Hope it works for you.

Always tap away from street junctions ! (I prefer to tap after a street junction). See also RWGPS website. https://ridewithgps.com/help/planning#avoiding-control-point-issues

Rwgps web has a warning message when tapping too near to junctions...Locus does not.

It's not easy to do it now, unfortunately, because that happened during a walk last Tuesday.

I didn't save the original route, sorry, my fault... if it will happen again I will certainly save it.

I'm attaching a new route created now (not the original) and it seems you're right, the point on the T juction is a little on the right.

Anyway I used the Route Planner with the "snap" feature, it's difficult without using an high level of zoom to pick the points correctly. I though the Route Planner was more "smoother" in this situations, is there a parameter that allow to smooth the path to avoid situations and "wrong" directions like these?

Q: Do (did) you tap (create shape point) very near to that existing street junction at your edit(s) ?

Yes, probably. But using a "normal" zoom level, i.e. more or less the one you can see on the screenshot above.

Maybe I went a little on the right, without being aware of.

Close the ticket/question in the mean time, I'm pretty sure this is the real problem.

Thank you very much!
