Download of offline LoMap on SD Card fails

When trying to download any LoMap to SD Card, it fails at the point at which the app should decompress the download and save the data. I assume, the app is still trying to download in the now not anymore accessible data-folder (instead of media-folder). At least the .../data/... - path is provided when checking the directory in the settings (see screenshot).

Shouldn't Locus Maps now automatically download to the accessible media-folder on the SD Card (if standard folder is set to the SD Card)?

BTW: Are tracks etc. also saved in the "media" folder or only (vector)maps? If not, where are the other files saved, if the standard folder is set to SD Card.

Find attached two logs:

- Logfile when starting Locus

- Logfile from the failed download process

Phone: Sony XZ2 Compact

Android: Lineage OS, 18.1 (22. April 2022), Android 11.

Many thanks for your great work!

Hello,

why do you think that the "data" folder is inaccessible?

Please, send me a screenshot of this page:

"Settings > Misc. > Default directories > Set custom sub-directories"

Dear Znedek

Right, I think I hastily read your second blog post about accessible folders for external maps on Android 11 but not the first one (which indeed mentions that "data" is the standard option for Locus to save internal maps to).

Find attached the screenshot of my custom directories. And a log, which has the priority level set to Warning (not Error as the previous ones).

I also tested whether the data-folder is writable by Locus. At least when exporting a GPS track (exported in folder .../data/menion.android.locus/files/locus/cache/export) seems to work (browsed folder with SolidExplorer after the export and file was there).

Many thanks.

Hello,

it looks like there is some "rotting" file in your directory...

Please, delete "Locus/mapsVector/europe/france/alsace.tmp" and try to download map again.

Let me know if it helps.

There is only alsace.zip in the directory. Alcase.tmp doesn't exist anymore (also no hidden file). I deleted alsace.zip and re-downloaded the map- it failed again with the same error (see log-file which covers the time from the start of the download until it has failed.).

Hello Beno, Ralf, and others who suffer from this issue.

I've just updated LineAge OS 18 on my older S7 device to the latest version. I'm not sure if this is a problem of the latest Lineage version of this was the problem before as well, but I may confirm exactly the same problem.

What happens in the background: the app correctly downloads and extracts data from the webserver, but the simple question "get me a list of files in the mapsVector (on the SD card) directory" returns an empty list!!! But files are there.

I'm trying to search for anything that may help here, but for now, no success. I'll try exactly the same setup tomorrow on some more official public ROMs, like the original Samsung ROM (my Pixel device does not support an SD card) and in case, there all will work correctly, it will be a LineageOS issue (that I expect).

So sorry for now. The only solution is to use the Locus Map app inside internal memory, not the SD card. Thanks for understanding.

Thanks for checking. I upgraded to LineageOS 19.1 (Android 12) and it now works again for me.

Ah perfect, so it confirms there really is something weird in LOS18 regards to SD card handling. I'm glad it works with the latest system version!

After not having updated my Samsung Galaxy S5 for 6 months, I updated it today by using lineage-18.1-20221023-nightly-klte-signed.zip. Everything seems to work fine.
